Just returned from this program last Friday. We knew very little about the Arts & Crafts Movement before we went (We were invited by friends, Don & Jean Sowers, to participate). It was interesting learning about Elbert Hubbard and the Roycraft Campus and Artisans, and visiting several Frank-Lloyd-Wright-designed houses. Our leader, Ellen Moomaw, was excellent--and even arranged for us to have dinner at her restored Arts & Crafts house, and to visit another restored house for a reception. We also visited Janice McDuffie's Roycroft Pottery in her Wright-designed Unisonian house. The total # of "scholars" attending the program was about 22. We enjoyed participating with these very nice and interesting people.

This program is centered on excellence in every area of life and applying it to live one's life artfully. It is a holistic experience, and I came away with a depth of understanding that exceeded my expectations.

I highly recommend this well-planned program covering the history of the Roycroft artisan colony and its relationship with the British Arts and Crafts Movement. Started by writer, publisher, and philosopher Elbert Hubbard in 1895 with a rebirth in the 1970s and '80s. Several good craft demos, leaders who welcomed us into their Roycroft-built homes, plus the added treat of visiting Frank Lloyd Wright-built homes in Buffalo. A lovely suite in the restored Roycroft Inn was an unexpected pleasure.
