Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.

Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.

EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

As a new RS traveler and traveling alone for the first time, this program was beyond my expectations regarding lodging, destination, director, driver, speakers, side trips, and even the weather. Great job.

The guide was delightful and the program was of high interest throughout. I have difficulty walking, and the guide was very helpful in getting a wheelchair when appropriate, making certain aspects of programs more easily accessible to me. That was so appreciated.

I have taken several Elder Hostel trips, and have enjoyed each of them. They give a lot at an affordable rate. The people, who have been on the trips, are experienced travelers and "go with the flow". All in all, well worth what I get out of them.

Terry Wangsness, Benson, AZ Number of Programs: 3 I took this trip 9/21/08- 9/27/08, the lodging was wonderful, our program director was great. We had wonderful lectures and field trips to Mt. Rushmore which is a humbling experience, The Tatanka Museum was a great learning experience about the Lakota/Sioux Indians, the 1880's train ride to Deadwood City was fun, and the local guide by bus was hilarious... Would love to go back but then there are still many places I want to see. The farewell party was fun with wine and appetizers. We had a compatible group.

The educational perspective Road Scholar brings to its trips exceeds those of other travel groups I have been with. It enhances the experience by far and you can usually count on other participants coming with the same open-mindedness as oneself.

This was our first Road Scholar adventure. We had heard about it from friends. I have and will continue to praise the program. We hope to take more "adventures" with Road Scholar. Thanks for all your planning to make this a memorable experience.

I would pay somewhat more to have a smaller group.

Fred from Nashville, TN Number of programs attended: 4

The program definitely lived up to our expectatios. Wewere busy every minute. Our guide, Tim,was well organized ,very knowledgeable and very personable. The accomodations were ina beautiful setting with spacious and comfortable rooms. The staff friendly and helpful. Only the food left a lot to be desired and suffered from mass production.I have already recommended this program to others

My trip to South Dakota, (Mount Rushmore, Black Hills and Badlands was
very educational and fun! Our guide was knowledgeable, and had such
humorous stories to share his name is Tim. Our accommodations were
very comfy and rustic. I certainly plan to travel with Road Scholar in
the near future.
