ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was my second tour of India and first trip to Nepal. The mix of informative lectures, sightseeing, interaction with villagers and school children, and home visits made for a very exciting time. Our tour guide Jayanta Kar went out of his way to deepen our understanding of the region. All in all, a great trip with a great guide and great group of friends.

My second trip to India and first to Nepal was packed with information and the sounds and sights of the region. Our guide Jayrantha Kar was so knowledgable and concerned with making our stay enjoyable and interesting. Seeing the Taj Mahal and Himalayas in person was a once in a lifetime experience for me! The weather was perfect, high 40's in the morning and high 70's afternoon. Food was plentiful with lots of regional offerings. Our group was 14 which was a perfect size.

This program was outstanding in every way! I learned so much and found that each day seemed like two because there was so much to enjoy and think about! The mix of lectures and hands-on experiences and true sight-seeing was ideal, and our guide was the best!

Immersed us in India and Nepal during the day (and sometimes evening) while allowing us to return to the comfort and familiarity of western-style accommodations at night.

Whatt a fantastic experience this was! India and Nepal defy a simple description- everyone knows that! Intense, emotional, colorful, gritty, authentic, unvarnished...I could go on and on. this trip provided access to all of that while providing an educational context for what we were seeing, smelling, hearing and feeling. Our guide Gopal was incredible...sharing his deep knowledge, cultural understanding and roots in India. he tackled every question...about any topic...with ease. The trip was beyond what I could have hoped for. thank you Gopal and Road Scholar.

Road Scholar meets the expectancies of people who are unsatisfied with "deja vu" tours which do not recognize that an increasing number of tourists flocks to more comprehensive and culturally enriching programs.

This is a most informative and eye opening experience for those who have not seen this part of the world. The colors, sights and sounds wake up the senses. The leader was a fantastic story teller and shared many of his own experiences which made us even more interested and the place alive. Our group was fabulous. Experience it for yourself!

The tour to northern India and Nepal is one not to be missed! I had a marvelous time, a marvelous group and a marvelous tour leader. It couldn't have been better! If you have a fascination with learning about other cultures and exploring exotic places in the world, I would definitely recommend this tour.

Out of 9 programs already attended, "Mystical Lands: The People and Culture of India and Nepal" comes at the top of my list. It covered in depth everything that makes a country. More than its people and its culture, it embodied its religions, its traditions, its politics, its past, present and targeted future - not forgetting its gastronomy. Nothing was left behind. Gopal, our Group Leader, was in every way exceptional. He opened the door of his country to us as widely, knowledgeably and enthusiastically as anyone could possibly do. He shared without restraint his love for his beautiful India in a most captivating, contagious and convincing way. He went out of his way to ensure that each participant was totally responsive and fully satisfied. As well, Niraj, for the Nepalese portion of the program, was the perfect complement to our Group Leader. All parts of the program were diverse in content, well researched, well organized and well rendered. In my opinion, each part was needful, if not essential in its own way toward acquiring the knowledge and understanding of the two countries visited.
