I've been birding for 30+ years, and this was probably the most spectacular birding experience I've ever had--if you love warblers, go for this one.

This program is a delight for birders and still offers some other activities for those who wish more variety in a program. The accommodations in the Bed and Breakfast inns were very nice. I would definitely suggest bringing a car to the island so that if you want to bird on your own while others visit a cave or see a memorial you will have transportation to the different birding sites. It does add a small expense to the trip but the ferry is easy to use and in the shoulder season there is plenty of parking on the island.

We found this Road Scholar program was a great place to begin our birding adventures. This was our first birding program and everyone was helpful and encouraging. I was able to find three special birds I hoped for, as well as over 50 birds new to me.

On our drive home to NC we both agreed how much we enjoyed this trip. I really liked getting so many close up views of the birds. Even the birds that I get to see all the time seemed more interesting. The warblers were amazing. Kudos to to the guides for providing a well paced and interesting trip. It was all mostly all about the birds with a little local history tossed in.

Very capable leaders provided a fine experience for both beginning and advanced birders. The locations, South Bass Island, is interesting itself, especially since the program starts before the tourist season begins.

A very well-organized and thought-out program, run by caring and knowledgeable people in an interesting and unique place. Many people in the group seemed to be beginning birders, so don't hesitate to sign-up if that describes you, but do know that you will be out birding every morning and attending bird lectures every evening, so if you really are not that interested in birds, it is probably not the best choice. The weather was not ideal on my program, and the birds harder to find than normal, but I can't fault the program leaders for that.

This is an excellent program for someone who is involved in birding and who want to visit Pt. Pelee and Black Swamp Bird Observatory (Magee Marsh). If someone is a beginning birder the teachers are extremely helpful in getting people on the birds. There was a mix of both experienced and new birders in my program.
