If you've never visited Portland, don't wait. It is a wonderful city in a beautiful state. I intend to re-visit.

This was a terrific program with many opportunities to photograph varied subjects, to practice skills, and to learn better techniques. It was well-organized, and the leaders provided lots of suggestions to help all participants obtain great photos. They were eager to share their knowledge and were more than willing to give assistance. Wonderful learning experience; beautiful scenery; great program!

I took this photography program approximately six months ago and waited to write this review. Although I thought the program was excellent and should receive a 5 star rating, I wanted to wait and see if I would still be applying the skills I learned while taking the program. Here it is six months later and find I’m still applying those techniques while out shooting. Not only did I learn how to improve my photography, I also learned specifics for my particular camera. Ken Barker is an excellent organizer and leader. He provided a variety of photographic locations and experiences, fostered ideas and was very flexible with regards to the schedule. Ken also fostered group cohesion and camaraderie. Another wonderful aspect of the program was the variety of outside photographers to work with the participants and the one on one time with a professional provided to critique your photography. The accommodations were first-rate and meals both at the restaurants and on site were great. I highly recommend this program for anyone interested in improving their photographic skills. On second thought, it should receive six stars. Dave … Emerald Isle, NC

This is an outstanding program if you are interested in digital photography and beautiful scenery. Ken, the leader, presents a very well organized program and works hard to get everyone involved. The field trips were outstanding -- from the beautiful waterfalls, old growth forests, mountains and rocky coast. You will not go wrong signing up for this Road Scholar program.

Portland, Oregon, provides a wide variety of beautiful scenery, a vital downtown area, accessible public transportation (try the light rail!), friendly people, and a environmentally friendly attitude. The photography program is excellent for a novice or experienced photographer, as the instructors are knowledgeable and seasoned photographers. The field trips -- especially to Cannon Beach and Timberline Lodge -- are well worth the trip. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn more about taking great photographs of flowers, waterfalls, buildings, small wildlife (birds, squirrels), and even people!
