Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This tour was everything I'd hoped for and much more! Outstanding, experienced guides and facilitators and a great group of fellow travelers. A wonderful experience, and I can't wait to take more Road Scholar trips! Joan, from No. California

Hello, everyone, from my home in St. Louis, Missouri. Guess what the weather is? Yes, it is flooding and raining here. Am I still in D.C.? Thanks to all for sharing the experience with me. You were great and I enjoyed your company. What a wonderful memory!! Cecilia from Missouri

Sarah from Fort Wayne, IN Number of programs attended: 7
Date attended: 04/07/13 - 04/12/13
This program was an excellent overview of the emotionally moving memorials, magnificent museums, and our beautiful and ornate U.S. Capitol building and Library of Congress. It was very well organized and the leaders made great use of the time allowed.

Sandra from Elgin, IL Number of programs attended: 16
Date attended: 09/16/12 - 09/21/12
This program is an outstanding value and provides 5 days of great experiences in our nation's Capitol. Included are talks, walks and interactions you cannot duplicate on your own. It ranks in my top 3 Road Scholar programs.

Philip from Seattle, WA Number of programs attended: 14
Date attended: 05/13/12 - 05/18/12
This program had just the right balance of formal instruction and first-hand observation. The schedule allowed for individual preferences as far as monument/memorial visitation is concerned. The meals were varied (except for the breakfasts), and we all certainly ate more than we needed to. I'm not sure the LWT (Lose Weight Tours)applies in this case, even though we did plenty of walking!

In my experience with Ehostel and other groups, it can be the guides who make or break the trip; Chris, Megan and Gary certainly "made" this trip to be a memorable and positive experience. And, of course, kudos to the phenomenal bus driver, Deidre (sp?).

Clara from Northbrook, IL Number of programs attended: 11
Date attended: 05/13/12 - 05/18/12
Gary, Megan and Chris are a very organized, informative team. The subjects at the after-breakfast seminars encourage audience participation. Gary used listening devices for our field trips, so we didn't have to stand close to hear him. We visited the Saudi Arabian Embassy, sat in on a panel discussion at the Brooking Institute, and had great seats at 'The Music Man'. The Roosevelt Memorial was so much larger than I had expected. I learned a lot on this program.

Melanie from Clifton Hill VIC. Australia, NA Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 04/08/12 - 04/13/12
Visiting from overseas we found this program a wonderful and informative way to see Washington. The depth of knowledge gained and ability to see and experience so much in a short time was fantastic

Mary Grace from Bakersfield, CA Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 04/08/12 - 04/13/12
This is a really interesting program. There is so much to see and to learn. I was really moved by the Korean War Memorial about which I knew nothing before. And to go to an embassy and to Ford Theatre were real highlights! I wish there were more time for this program with more free time to explore.
