Many people have taken the Inside Passage cruise, which is wonderful, but you really get to know Alaska on this tour. The train rides were fun, relaxing and afforded exceptional views. The native Alaskans were welcoming and wanted us to have good experience in the land they are proud of.

If you enjoy train travel, absolutely outstanding scenery, great leadership, and a fun travel experience with a fairly small sized group, I would very much recommend this program for you.

Alaska was awesome, and the activities were well-chosen to expose us to its wonders. The group leaders and guides did a great job on both content and logistical arrangements. Meals were well-done, even in rather remote areas. The accommodations were for the most part very "simple", and I would highly recommend opting for the extra-cost private bath.

An excellent program of nature, wildlife, people & history. Spectacular scenery on a beautifully organized tour. Lots of variety -from museums to sled dogs to puffins & seals. Food in Denali & Moose Pass - 5 stars!! Highly recommended!

Alaska by Rail is a great way to experience the diversity of the state. Riding the railroad was wonderful. Our overnight accommodations were not always deluxe, but they provided us with the opportunity to feel the frontier aspects of Alaska. I especially enjoyed "glamping" near Denali and in Moose Pass. It got us out of the crush of the tourist stampede!

Mary and I enjoyed the trip thoroughly. Well coordinated and a good, well-rounded program. Especially enjoyed the stay at Denali Education Center and Moose Pass. A very broad look at Alaska, highly recommended for anyone who enjoys touring (as we do). A couple of nitpics: While a cabin upgrade at Denali would make sense, I would hate to see the association with Moose Pass/Trail Lake Lodge end. Some of the learning activities could be improved - long lectures right after a meal can be challenging. The "moderate" rating is really only justified by the walk to Exit Glacier. Other than that, this is (in my view) a low activity trip.

Amazing trip with grand vistas and insights into the character of the people. I especially appreciated the time in Trail Lake Lodge with its panoramic view, quirky location and great food. A great place to "come home to" after excursions and lectures.

Beautiful, educational trip. Great leaders and excellent organization throughout the trip. Scenery unmatched, animals amazing as only Alaska can provide. Loved everything about it.

Alaska by Rail has been a life-time highlight. This is an outstanding way to get the best of interior Alaska while also experiencing coastal areas. Our sites and presenters helped me understand why many "lower 48ers" come and stay in Alaska.

You will enjoy both the diversity of activities and locations and riding the trains for this program. Educational lecturers were excellent. Meals met expectations at UAF and were exceptional both at Denali Educ. Center, Anchorage and Moose Pass. Don't miss your chance to see a good part of Alaska.

Want to see incredible scenery, view wild wildlife, and meet interesting people? You should take the Alaska by Rail trip. The learning experience was unforgettable and the Alaskan people fascinating. Never mind an impersonal cruise up the waterway. Be up close and personal with Alaska by taking this trip.
