Totally agree with Paul, from NY. I didn't know Spain is so interesting, with so many well preserved constructions and museum artifacts from the Medieval period. El Camino "samples" were well selected, covering all the kind of terrain, with magnificent vistas this time of the year. And I can't praise enough the tour and local guides, the quality of accommodation and the Spanish food and vine! Looking to return. Buen Camino!

This is a great trip. The scenery, the accommodations, the food (and wine), the group leader - they all were absolutely wonderful. And, as always with Road Scholar, you learn a great deal about history, tradition and current affairs. You should definitely bring hiking poles and good rain gear since the hikes go forward in good weather or bad. But there is almost always a Plan B (and sometimes even a Plan C) for those who either want to take a break or desire more activity. Even though this trip is not exclusively hiking, it is best to be in reasonable physical shape in order to take advantage of all that is offered. I would very much recommend this trip.

This is a fantastic trip with a great leader. There is plenty of physical activity and great food. I learned a great deal about Spanish history and the Camino is truly spiritual. I highly recommend it.

If you like hiking, history , food, wine and meeting very interesting people, you will love this program! It is active and challenging and there is no more compelling road than the Camino.

Get in Shape and walk the Camino. It's a great trip

Saburo from San Francisco,Ca Number of programs attended:4. The best trip by far. The program was well planned and carried out by professional guides. The accommodations and restaurants chosen were excellent. The instructors were warm and very adaptable to unexpected circumstances. Nacho, our guide, allowed me get ahead of the group to jog on a few of the hikes so that I could carry out my normal daily exercise.

The Greatest Road in Europe: Camino de Santiago was a great experience, enhanced by two terrific guides, a well chosen itinerary, and excellent food and accommodations. Highest marks!

We loved this tour which gave us a sampling of the Camino. We had just the right amount of walking, touring, and saw more than we ever would have on our own. Great guide and excellent food, too!

This was a wonderful trip with a good mix of sightseeing, walking, and eating. The food and drink were the best ever on a Road Scholar trip. If you are planning to go, I recommend two trekking poles (the kind that can be folded and fit into your luggage. Trekking poles will help you on hills and in muddy spots. They also give you confidence knowing that you have 2 extra legs! I also recommend walking and conditioning for long walks and some steep trails. Although our weather was excellent for the most part poncho/water proof jacket and water proof pants are a very good idea.

A fascinating part of Spain with EVERYTHING from cities and cathedrals to broad plains and mountain vistas. Some walks (actually more like hikes) are pretty challenging but our group leaders were OUTSTANDING and found ways to offer a Plan B for those who needed something a little easier and Plan C for the very hardy among us. Do bring at least one walking stick and be prepared for rain and mud (Gallicia is, after all, the green Ireland-like part of Spain). I'm so glad I had a chance to do this trip!

I wish I would have taken my walking poles and waterproof pants. I did okay without the poles but it would have been easy with them. The landscape is varied, picturesque, and more mountainous than I expected. It was beautiful. Visiting the highlights as well as walking was a wonderful way to see this part of Spain.

This was my first Road Scholar trip but most definitely will be back. Top quality for a good price.

The Camino trip is an ideal mix of walking and sightseeing. Meeting pilgrims along the trail, people who have walked long distances, was often a moving experience. There was a spiritual element in this voyage that I had not considered before I arrived. I was the slowest in the group, but I plan to do it again. I recommend adding a few days in Santiago.

What a wonderful experience! The lectures enhanced the time between stops and filled in all the gaps! I would have been unable to make the 550 mile rip at my age, but Road Scholar offered me the opportunity to experience different situations: flat roads, hills, fields, etc. as a Pilgrim!

A wonderful balance between hiking and history. Accommodations were terrific. The meals were exceptional.

If you are interested in experiencing the Camino de Santiago, but are not sure if you can or want to do consecutive days of fifteen mile walking, this is the trip for you. Day hikes through representative sections of The Road go through various landscapes, towns, terrains and provinces of Spain. You will get a chance to try food specialties of the regions, stay in hotels either on the Camino or close by and add to your reading knowledge of northern Spain and it's history with Carlota's and Nacho's commentary. While this is the "Camino Lite", you can always do the whole walk another time.
