This was an enjoyable trip. The lectures were helpful and informative. I was hoping for sunny weather during our trip to the island for photos, but we had a heavy marine layer of fog -- and that actually produced some great photos accentuating the seclusion and mystery of the islands. I am so happy that the National Park Service is preserving and protecting these incredible natural resources.

it was a magical place. We were led by an extremely knowledgable guide. We were fortunate to see lots of wildlife. We had a wonderful and memorable adventure. It was great fun getting to know our fellow travelers a bit, too.

This program is well-designed and gives the participant a view of an area not normally seen. Those who have motion sensitive GI tracks should be aware of the catamaran trip out to Santa Cruz, and the long hike does gain in elevation at the beginning, but there is plenty of help, and the view is wonderful.

What a delightful Road Scholar adventure. For those of us who do not frequent Naional Park Service locations, the Channel Islands will motivate you to get a senior pass and start exploring. This program was well organized and certainly reasonably priced for all that was offered. I appreciated the lectures that provided a back story for all that we would experience. The national news has also used Santa Cruz island to promote the National Park Service. The island fox provides a different view of wildlife. It went about it's activities without any concern of the humans surrounding it. While we ate lunch it sat patiently by the picnic table for more than a 1/2 hour waiting for the humans to finish so that it could cleanup anything that may have dropped. The ravens pub on an aerobatic show for the group and the views were great. Combined with the history of the island, past residents and its wildlife make an enjoyable short trip.

If you are ready for a great adventure in a place unique and yet so close to our "civilized" way of life, you would-will enjoy this program.

What a wonderful adventure that ended all too soon! I learned so much, and pushed myself on the more challenging hike. The views and solitude of Santa Cruz must be experienced to be understood. Words and photos do not suffice in capturing the feeling.

The fist day visit to the Channel Islands Visitor Center was pleasant but could have been much shorter. A visit to a second channel island such as San Miguel or Anacapa should be added. The visit to Santa Cruz Island was outstanding even though no one got a look at the Island Scrub-Jay. The food at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Hotel was a disappointment although the accomodations themselves were very good.

The location at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Beach in Ventura was delightful! And all the educational experiences were fun! We DID get to go out to Santa Cruz Island on the Island Packers' boat, and that was a very enjoyable experience, especially walking around on the island and seeing the Island Foxes!
