ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.

This was an excellent program. It is well organized with a wonderful, clearly enumerated, selection of daily hikes to choose from. Each offering was specific to level of difficulty, and accurately described. The lodging was lovely, the bed was WONDERFUL, and the setting spectacular. I can't wait to go back!

You can do it! Hard, middle and stroll options make this a perfect choice to get outside and hike the Appalachian Trail. Spend the rest of the time in luxury at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. History and nature and lots and lots of pampering.

This was an excellent program, exceeding my expectations. The staff, hikes, accomodation, were all really exceptional. Thoroughly recommend.

The Shawnee Inn is a terrific place to stay, with great friendly staff, an indoor pool and hottub, and well-located for exploring the Poconos. The large 37-person group was divided into four levels, which helped a lot with the hiking not being too long or too fast/slow for the participant. The trails tended to be very rocky and steep, and use of good hiking boots and walking sticks is highly desirable. There was an easy 2-3 mile program on flat trails available for the less active participant.

This was an enjoyable program. The hiking was challenging. The terrain was rocky and offered a great workout! the instructors were the BEST!!, knowledgeable, and had a pleasant sense of humor. The meals were delicious, and plentiful. The Shawnee inn was quite comfortable. The participants were amicable, and diversified which made the trip even more enjoyable. This trip was the best one yet!! Plan to participate in a few more.Cindy was on Pt. which also made the trip a 10!! :)

This was a fantastic trip. I'm a flatlander and handled the mountains with not too much trouble. The rating is a 5 but this is rocky terrain. I did not expect so many rocks. The Shawnee Inn was a wonderful place to stay and the food was great. Our group was lots of fun.

Bring hiking poles. I'd never used them before, and they were great. I never slipped or fell. They made a huge difference on my knees.

The evening speakers were wonderful and informative. All of the guides were tops. We were well taken care of.

Every day offered a group A or B hike, the B being longer and a little more strenuous. People went between the groups on different days. They ended up offering a C hike because a few people needed easier hiking.

I feel proud I hiked 20 miles on the AT.
