While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was my first Road Scholar experience and it exceeded my expectations. I learned much about my home state of Pennsylvania and met lots of interesting people. I would recommend this trip to anyone interested in the life and history of Lancaster County.

The story of the religious groups who settled in Central Pennsylvania is far deeper than sensational TV shows and tourist attractions. We learned about the Mennonites and Amish and also about the Moravians, Quakers, and Ephrata Cloister-- plus native Americans in the region and the Underground Railroad. We had dinner in an Old Order Amish home. The camp/retreat center in the Lancaster County countryside provided excellent accommodations and great food. It was a great program!

I have shared my experience with many of my friends. The Road Scholar program has never failed to be professional. Everything is well planned out. You don't have to do anything but show up and enjoy. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania trip was a real treat!

Program #20538 was an outstanding experience in a wonderful natural setting. The topic of Lancaster's religous communities was presented in a series of field trips, speakers and personal experiences that provided much insight into the lives of these wonderful people of faith.

I was very pleased with this program & it was more then I expected to learn & see about communities of faith. I especially enjoyed the day with the Mennonite History Center presenters that highlighted the Menonite experience, the American Indian experience and the African American slaves, freedom, etc. The field trips to the Ephretes cloisters and the Moravian Church were also quite interesting. The retreat center was perfect and we were well taken care of & well fed. The Amish family that provided dinner to us also provided a delicious dinner and all of my stereotypes of the Amish disappeared during this nice exchange. Brinton Rutherford was very informative. I met nice people and I am very interested in taking another Road Scholar program. Thank you for this nice experience.
