Road Scholar
Program #15551RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

5 classes in 5 days was a perfect blend of history, music, and current events topped off by a field trip to Frank Lloyd Wright's Hana house on the Stanford campus. Our accommodations were first rate and the instructors were knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

This was my first Road Scholar program and I was very pleasantly happy. I wasn't surprised because I have several friends who have had many Road Scholar trips and just loved them, so I anticipated that I would like it as much as I did. I hope to have another trip with you people again some day.

Five Courses in Five Days: Music, Art, The American Experience, World Affairs & More | 15551 10/31/2013 to 11/05/2013 was simply marvelous Kitty Wallin, the Road Scholar Leader led a fascinating five days in San Francisco. The hotel was A+, the setting was glorious, the lectures mostly very lively and the tour of the city was great fun. Thank you Ms. Wallin for all your special efforts to make everything so smooth and engaging. You are a terrific leader.

A very well-done program. Especially enjoyed John Rothman and the field trip we took to the Hanna House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The architecture survey course was excellent, considering that the instructor of necessity covered three millennia in four hours! Comfortable hotel (Hilton Bayfront).

Celia from Winnetka, CA Number of programs attended: 9

This was an experiment to see how I liked traveling alone as a recent widow. The group was welcoming, and I look forward to signing up for another program in the future.

i do not have friends and addresses with me...i have already recommended richard lawrence of rancho mirage..i live in a large community and will spread the word..people listen to me.. this was my first elderhostel without my husband who passed 2 1/2 years ago. strange for me..the next trip i take with roads scholar i will book a single room. i think that something should be done with all the single ladies...would have liked a welcoming drink..and would have like some wine at the last dinner.you have lots of women alone...so create something special for them...it's hard.
