This is one of the real bargains in the Road Scholar catalog. We thoroughly enjoyed the lectures, the field trips, the music, the dancing and the food. Don't plan on dieting during this week, but the indulgences are well worth it. We'd recommend this program to anyone who's as curious as we were about this unique and delightful part of the country.

If you are thinking of a Road Scholar trip in the United States you will be very surprised at how informative, interesting, and how much fun the Cajun Experience in Music, Food, and Dance program in Lafayette, LA can be.

The Cajun Experience ... is a wonderful experience in cultural immersion. The history, music, dance, food and culture was a delightful program. It was scholarly enough to be stimulating and homey enough to be fun and friendly.

I had thought this trip would be 'a poor stepchild' compared to the following New Orleans trip. It wasn't. This trip was absolutely wonderful!! I give it my highest recommendation. (And I have been on about 30 'road scholar' trips!)

This was a marvelous program, with unusual activities and wonderful food! Great exposure to Cajun history and culture, with speakers who shared their family histories, to enrich our understanding of Cajun life, past and present.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first experience with Roads Scholar! Gained a totally new perspective and deep appreciation of the Cajun culture and its people. We never could have had this delightful, thorough, or engaging experience on our own. Especially loved the down home expertise of all the presenters.

Program was fun and interesting because Patti was enthusiastic and informative.

This program was not only fun and informative, it was also a great value for the price! The ULL Ragin' Cajun team members, from program leader Patti to all the presenters and the bus drivers were happy and proud to share their region and culture with us. The food was good, the music was great and we even saw a gator on the swamp tour.

Wonderful program! Instructor and speakers were knowledgable and very proud of their Cajun culture. The history they shared with us was very interesting. Food was plentiful, music was toe-tapping, dancing was so much fun. Patti is a real gem and a great asset to Road Scholar and ULL.

I just attended this program and found it everything I had hoped for. I choose Road Scholar programs because I find more of an educational focus than other group tours. I enjoy the diversity of people that attend these programs and the chance to meet local people. I'm already looking for a program for next spring.

I had great expectations about this Road Scholar Program and they were greatly fulfilled. I enjoyed myself very much and felt I learned much about the subject presented. The people that participated in this program were very friendly and compatible and seemed to enjoy it as much as I did.

A very educational program introducing participants to the Cajun culture and their way of life (viz., food, music, social life, etc.) The history of the Acadian expulsion and migration from Nova Scotia to the U.S. was most interesting to those of us that had only limited knowledge of this tragic "event". Speakers on present day "Cajun" life, Louisiana history, Cajun food and cooking, the current economy in LA, etc. were well qualified and good presenters. The meals and restaurant choices were varied and gave us a good exposure to local food choices. The lodging (Marriott Courtyard) was very adequate and well located. Drug stores, restaurants, etc. were nearby by but not within easy walking distance. (The airport was also nearby.) We achieved our "educational" objectives with this program and rate it high on our list of past programs attended. The experience has motivated us to want to visit SW Louisiana again and "explore" on our own.

Natalie from Jackson, MS Number of programs attended: 3

I loved it! Though I live in nearby Mississippi and have been to Louisiana many times, can get Cajun food in my city, and even have a degree from LSU, I found this program informative as well as fun. Patti, our guide, was great. In addition to being a Cajun with insider knowledge, she was able to get all kinds of arcane information quickly by texting experts she knew. In addition to being knowledgeable and enthusiastic, Patti was just plain fun. I liked the balance in the program: from Cajun dancing and singing to floating around the Atchafalaya Basin in a pontoon boat to visiting Shadows on the Teche and a replica of an Acadian village. We stayed busy but had enough down time not to feel frenzied. I highly recommend this program.

Fantastic program. My interests - languages and linguistics - French and English were very well covered
