George from Ridge, MD Number of programs attended: 3 Date attended: 9/28/14-10/14 The program lived up to my expectations. We averaged walking, I would estimate, between 3-4 miles per day and there was usually some time to do some walking on our own. The group ranged in age and everyone could walk at their own pace. The accommodations were fine and program staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. And meeting and getting to know other participants was one of the highlights. Shepherd Springs is a great location for walking and biking programs and I look forward to participating in another of the several Road Scholar programs offered there

This trip was very educational and extremely informative about an area of our beautiful country which holds many historical treasures. The Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River, Potomac River, the Great Falls along with the C & O Canal offer some of the most gorgeous views in the country. The lectures, leaders and staff at Shepherds Spring were professional and accommodating. Our fellow participants were the best part of the trip!

A very welcoming venue in beautiful surroundings. Attention given to vegetarian diet. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Joan from Louisville, KY Number of programs attended: 3

My experience was a very positive and enriching one. The leaders were truly that, but super friendly as well. I was impressed with the volunteers who added to the services provided. Maryland is a beautiful state and it was fun to spend some time there.

The program meet our expectations which are usually high. As usual, the participants "made the program". We were especially impressed with the personal attention and pride that the organization hosting the program took in their facilities and touched by the effort taken for the final evening banquet. Would recommend this to someone looking for a non-strenuous activity.

The setting and history of the area are packed with opportunities to appreciate natural beauty and our American heritage.

Graeme from Waynesville, NC Number of programs attended: 8
Date attended: 04/21/13 - 04/26/13
Mary and I enjoyed our days exploring the C & O canal. The lectures were excellent and entertaining by knowledgable scholars. The company, as always at Road Scholar events, was friendly and so easy to get along with. Our accommodations, while being "no frill" were comfortable, but the food was much better than I expected. Even the weather cooperated! It was a really good week. Robin Cortvriend.

Ellen from Greensboro, NC Number of programs attended: 14
Date attended: 04/21/13 - 04/26/13
This was my first experience with this type of program. I found it within my physical capability and encouraging to try others. The area was lovely and historically interesting. The accommodations were clean, functional and the staff warm and very helpful.
