Program #15752RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

The concept of the program is excellent. Seals, butterflies exceptional viewing opportunities. Except for the birding lecture, the lectures failed to use graphics equipment available in the room so the lectures were below modern standards. Virtually no guiding on the bus.

Viewing the elephant seals and the butterflies were a highlight of this trip! Cambria is a delightful area to visit.

Jackie from Phoenix Really great presenters and our group leader, Chuck Walker, was so well organized, affable, and very attuned to the group. A beautiful part of CA I had never seen, a good balance of hiking, especially walk at San Simeon, and evening lectures. highly recommended

Sue from Oakland, CA Number of programs attended: 11
Date attended: 01/23/13 - 01/28/13
Wonderfully interesting guides, and such a pretty area of the country to explore! We got to watch the bachelor elephant seals trying to get close to the females, and invariably being chased off by the harem master. An elephant seal was born while we were watching, 30 feet away. Loved the long clusters of hundreds of overwintering monarch butterflies.

Four Great Animal Migrations Converge is my first Road Scholar experience, and I loved it! I had no idea elephant seals could be so fascinating and funny! I learned new things about butterflies and birds, and I am now addicted to whale watches. If you love nature, you will love this week on the southern California coast. I came away with a refreshed and energized spirit, ready to travel again soon. Thanks, Road Scholar, for helping me fulfill a dream.

Larry from Everett, WA Number of programs attended: 13

the program was well organized, and out leaders were great.

Janet from Riverside, CA Number of programs attended: 10
Date attended: 01/23/13 - 01/28/13
'Great Migrations'is an understatement for the travels of these animals. A tremendous learning experience. I'll never look at a bird or butterfly the same. Shannon was a great leader and worked well with our small but diverse group. Instructors were well versed in their fields and brought their subjects to life - literally in the field!
