This program was sensational, especially for someone like myself interested in ancient and art history. The small size of the group made it very personable. The program was well organized and executed and chock full of interesting site visits and demonstrations. The local guides were informative and interesting. I highly recommend this tour.

This was a well planned program. Only one thing I wished I knew before the booking of it. I did not know that Greece was this hot and kind made me less enjoy the program, If I knew beforehand, I would have booked this trip early in the year to avoid the heat.

Group Leaders: Excellent, very knowledgeable, good lecturers. Hotels: All were very good except Semiramis in Rhodes. Food: Plenty to eat as usual and very good. Content: This is an educational program. Lots to learn. It would be nice to have some fun stuff mixed in such as music, belly dancing, etc. I had fun riding a donkey to the top of a hill to see a temple. Weather at this time of year was excellent. For me, I thought the program should have been rated moderately challenging.

If you like ancient history and were entranced by the Greek myths, this is the trip for you. The rich mix of cultures and religions that always reigned in this part of the world is fascinating, and helps the visitor better understand events that are unfolding today. And the food is fabulous!

Sights: Excellent overview of ancient and modern Greece and Turkish sights Guides: First guide in Greece was cordial and knowledgeable; the second one was knowledgeable but did not seem to care too much for participants, in general, and was rather "sharp". The Turkish guide was great in all respects. Accommodations: Hotels in Athens, Kusadasi and Istanbul were excellent. Hotel in Crete had very small rooms, some filled with cigarette smoke, and an elevator accommodating only 3 people with bags. This proved a big problem for some...requiring their lugging their bags up to their rooms by stairs. Hotel in Rhodes was switched on us purportedly due to increase in size of group. Replacement hotel was HORRIBLE: Rooms were dirty, smelly and worn; mold and cockroaches for a start. Food was awful. A quick review of internet would have detected that prior customers suggested "DON'T GO!" No excuse for RS putting us up there. Participants deserve a rebate for that portion of the trip. Difficulty of the trip: Some participants said that the terrain was such that the trip should have been graded as more difficult. Climbing over and around ruins on very uneven ground was very hard for some. Travel between sites: The air travel leg between Crete and Rhodes took ONE WHOLE DAY and was a waste of our valuable vacation time. The itinerary did NOT work here. Overall: pleasant fellow travelers, informative guides, some good accommodations and wonderful historical sites and sights. But definitely a mixed review. A total fail for Rhodes food and hotel.

This trip was so educational, both about ancient times as well as today. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys hiking around ancient ruins.

This was the trip of a lifetime! It was our first Road Scholar trip and I would definitely do it again. Our group was wonderful...everyone mixed it up and we got to know wonderful people from the US and Canada...I miss them already and would travel with any if them so happily. I though our guides were amazing. Our guide in Greece was not warm and fuzzy but so knowledgable and humorous....our guide in Turkey was so good -natured, proud of his country, knowledgable and he bent over backwards to help us and make us comfortable!!, I hope everyone visits Turkey ....such remarkable, hospitable people and an amazing history, a beautiful country...I want to go back!,,,
