Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

A Toast to the Best of San Diego was our first Road Scholar trip and we had a fantastic time. We enjoyed visiting all the sights, but especially enjoy making so many new wonderful friends.

I just returned from 2 back-to-back programs in San Diego and learned so much more about the area than I knew before. It was a GREAT experience and I enjoyed getting to know others from many different parts of the country. Looking forward to my next adventure! Close [x]

This was one of the best Road Scholar programs I've attended! I didn't know San Diego had so much to offer and thanks to this program, I've taken many beautiful memories home.

This was our eighth Road Scholar program and probably the best, although it's difficult to compare. We would be hard pressed to find any room for improvement. Not only was the program first class in every respect, but even the weather was beautiful. Definitely a five star rating. Lee and Carolyn from Fairfax, VA

This program has a nice balance of lectures and trips that will take you to lots of basic sites in the San Diego area. Comfortable accomodations and a nice balance of meals at the hotel and meals out add to the pleasure of this trip.

This was a very well organized trip. The time and effort that went into planning it shows, as we went to 2 or 3 places each day, and yet were always able to keep to the schedule. We had great trip leaders, Kathy and Ken, and a bus driver who provided lots of interesting information along the way, with a few jokes thrown in for good measure. The speakers were all excellent.
We received handouts for most of the areas we visited. We received this information the morning the trip, which would be my only criticism. I would have preferred to have the zoo map and list of things to visit at Balboa Park at least a day earlier, so I could have planned my time better.
The hotel rooms were large (Marriott Courtyard on Hotel Circle), and breakfast and dinner buffets at the hotel were always very good. We ate lunch together twice. We were on our own for the other 3 lunches, and received a stipend for one of them. I appreciated the lunch on my own, since I usually ate fast-food, which gave me more time for exploring.
One more thing I liked: We had a lecture every morning after breakfast, then about 15 minutes to get ready for the day's excursion. I liked not having to take off right away after breakfast.
I definitely recommend this trip.
