This is a fascinating, physically active program which takes participants to remote archaeological sites. Very interesting!

This was a wonderful program full of fresh air and exercise, ancient archaeological treasures brought to life by trained and passionate experts, incredible food in a bucolic retreat center which is also an archaeology preserve surrounded by hiking canyons, and wonderful educational programs with Native American teachers and enough learning to make you feel like you should get a degree at the end. Adjusting to the elevations was a challenge for my Florida self, and anyone going should be prepared to hike -- this is real hiking! It was a wonderful experience for mind, body and spirit and anyone who likes to learn while exercising.

I loved this program. Jim, our leader, was a gem. A great inspiration to all and very sensitive to the needs and capabilities of all who participated. The location of the inn was beautiful and the food was great. The knowledge that Jim and Diane shared was impressive and very informative. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who likes to hike, enjoys the outdoors and loves history.

The program - Hiking in the Ruins of the Southwest is great! The leaders, Jim and Diane, are very nice, knowledgeable and interesting. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn about the Pueblo Peoples of the Southwest and hike to and visit the sites where they once lived. The accommodations are top rate and the food is good.

If you are interested in really learning something about the ancient builders of the southwest mesas and canyons, sign up for Jim Colleran while he is still at it. This wise "Gandalf" can still hike fit 60's and 70's into the ground but is in his 80's we think. The base camp at Kelly Place is in the midst of sites itself and offers beauty and good food as well as an addition to the learning with its own restored kiva to climb down into.
