Excellent tour! The Road Scholar experience brought Santa Fe and Taos alive for me. This was a spot that I've always wanted to visit and explore and I was able to learn so much in an enjoyable way during the week that I was there. I highly recommend Road Scholar! Friendly, enjoyable, knowledgeable, true to description in every sense. You won't be disappointed!

This is my second trip with Road Scholar. As usual it is very well organized with many interesting and "interested" attendees. I hope to do more in the future. Darla Swanson planned for us a wonderful program and is extremely enthusiastic about her "area". I love the long history of the place. I was impressed by the state capitol with the wonderful gallery. Thank you very much for a wonderful trip.

This was a fabulous, well planned and stimulating program. It included visits to museums, pueblos, walking tour of historical and religious sites, and excellent lectures. A good mix of art, culture, and history was included. I had a fabulous experience and learned more and saw more than I had anticipated.

Just completed this program today. The instructors were all excellent. The museums we visited were all outstanding. This was one of the best organized programs we have attended. Our group leader Darla Swanson made everyone feel welcome. In addition the hotel was very comfortable and our meals were all very good to excellent with choices available at most restaurants. Our photos are posted at: http://www.umassk12.net/photo/sfweb/

This was my first trip with Road Scholar. It will not be my last! The program was well organized. The leader was very friendly, always looking after the participants. The speakers were outstanding. My fellow 'class-mates' were so much fun.

A great exposure to the different Southwest fine arts: painting museums (e.g., Georgia O'Keeffe), native Indian musician(s), knowledgable recommendations by guide on southwest free-time cuisine locations, interaction with natives in 3 of New Mexico's 19 pueblos, literary arts__ local faculty led discussion of a few short writings, and a wonderful NM native to lead us through the week? Yes, Marsha, thank you! I have since become a novice scholar (library DVDs, books, etc) of Georgia O'Keeffe's long, dynamic life, paintings, painting sites (e.g., the black place) and her somewhat reclusive passions. My favorite painting: 'Winter Tree III' 1953 ....the Cottonwood tree by the Chama river

This trip was amazing. I enjoyed visiting the many wonderful museums in Santa Fe and Taos. The beauty of Santa Fe seemed to be almost everywhere. Each day was expertly planned with inspiring lectures, learning the history of NM and its people and traveling to historic sites. And the restaurants chosen for our lunches were excellent. Much credit should be given to Allen, our fearless leader, who passed onto us his love of Santa Fe and NM.

This trip provides an outstanding introduction to the culture and arts of Northern New Mexico. Santa Fe and Taos have outstanding museums and cultural sites, and the program provides an informative look at the contributions of Native American, Hispanic and modern residents to the rich heritage of this unique area. In addition, the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. I highly recommend this trip.

I have wanted to visit New Mexico for years and it finally happened this Sept with Raod Scholar. It was better than I ever expected and I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who loves learning and exploring new places. New Mexico is unique in that this trip was really a spiritual journey to a part of the country I had never seen before. The speakers and the places spoke of world I wanted to know. I came away with a sense of beauty and peace

The Santa Fe/ Taos trip was wonderful! From our highly knowledgable and patient leader's instruction, to the classes, to demonstrations of pottery and jewelry making, weaving, and musical presentation, it was a most educational trip! Seeing the beautiful country-side, churches, and museums was most beneficial! Thank you to our leader, Mark, and Road Scholar for a wonderful trip!

Pamela from Saginaw, TX Number of programs attended: 3

The program provided a wealth of information and experiences in a short period of time. I especially enjoyed having a guide to places I would have missed if traveling on my own, as well as the company of the group members.

I highly this tour!!

Jeanette from Great Neck, NY Number of programs attended: 6

I was very disappointed in the hotel being so far out of town. The transportation they supplied was every hr. to a certain hotel in town. Also the morning coffee was in a thermos that was left on each table to cool down along with being like water. I asked for cappuccino & expresso but they did not have either .

Roadscholar's program examining Santa Fe and Taos is a well-organized session, and an eye-opener for this midwesterner who was essentially unfamiliar with the Southwest.

Don't be shy about signing up for a trip as a solo. You will feel warmly embraced by the group and will enjoy what solitude you do have.

The good news...It was fascinating, informative, the leaders were terrific. I learned so much and met such wonderful people. Less than the best...the long days....8am to 6pm were stressful and so filled. I would have liked more time at the pueblos and museums and perhaps fewer events. The food was only fair. I stayed three days more and had much better food choices. Time at the museums that weren't covered was more reflective and satisfactory. I understand your limits, though. More important, when I inquired about airlines, the information I was given was incomplete over the phone and I later learned I could have gone non-stop and for several hundred dollars less. Your phone personnel should only refer people to do their own research. Judy Wank, New York

Just returned from my first RS experience in Santa Fe and Taos. It was full of variety of experiences, yet all these parts were integrated beautifully. The staff was fabulous! When can I go again!

A visit to Northern New Mexico is a step into a locale and a culture different from anywhere else in the U.S. Here, history goes back at least six centuries; the scenery is breath-taking; and you will experience both startling poverty and monetary largesse. You'll gain an understanding of the area's unique challenges, to which the geography, the limited water, and mingled cultures contribute. And you will marvel at the intellectual achievements, as well as the incomparable art and music of the area.

Sherrell and I have lived abroad and travelled on accompanied and solo trips to teach and to perform journalism – to learn for the sake of learning and to experience cultures for the sake of our own enlightenment. Our regard places the Road Scholar Program #11009 to Santa Fe/Taos and nearby villages and pueblos in the top of the spectrum for creating an intelligent and enjoyable travel and learning experience. And we are very grateful. From high art to street art, from classical concert hall to traditional music informally presented, from polished basilica to a sacred Corn Dance in a dirt-packed Indian plaza, from museum to curiosity shops, landscape to cityscape with artistry, crafts and foods and customs and history and modern concerns: How could the planning staff pack so much into one visit? Yet they did with time left over for the serendipity of good company and private insights. We highly recommend this fine trip.

I found this trip very interesting- lots of excellent instruction re: the art, architecture, history of the area. The field trips further enhanced the instruction... I came away with a hightened appreciation of NM and desire to return.

As a newly single woman traveling alone I found it an excellent way to do what I enjoy safely and in good company.
