The scenery must be seen to fully appreciate our magnificent country. The guides helped us to relax and enjoy it knowledgably. The hotels and meals were all you could ask for. Take the mule ride at the Grand Canyon! They do the work and they're cute.

Loved seeing the parks with spectacular formations and appreciated the billions of years it took to form/change them. Also appreciated seeing the desert, pine forests and meadows and views of mountains and canyons as we traversed parts of Utah and AZ. So different from New England! Our leaders and driver were wonderful. 6/04/13-6/13/13

This Road Scholar Program was a life-long dream of mine. I remember visiting the Grand Canyon probably 50+ years ago with my parents, and I had to go again when the program became available for my wife and myself. The instructors (Jeff and Joanna) complemented each other with their lively banter during the motor-coach trips between each Park. They both clearly explained how related, yet different, Zion and Bryce and the Grand Canyon Parks were to each other. I would recommend this trip to everyone.

One of the best programs I have attended. There was time to learn, explore on you own, and time to share learning with the group. Food better than expected and lodging just as good. The weather in late May was in the mid 80s and not a cloud during the trip. I would rate this program a 10.

This is an excellent program and a great chance to visit part of our National Parks system. Jeff and Johanna were both informative and enhanced my educational experience. Daily activities were fun, but the higher altitudes had to be taken into consideration for us sea level dwellers. I was glad the program park visits started low and ended high, gave me a good chance to adjust as we went along.

I chose this program, my first, Road Scholar tour, to see the National Parks. Zion, Bryce Canyon & north rim of Grand Canyon, and was able to do so more than superficially with two nights in each. The schedule, lodging and meals worked out really well and had some flexibility. I delight in learning about our earth and ecologies and did a lot of that on this Color Country tour. I was a solo traveler and was welcomed by fellow tourers and received friendly help from the three staff members. Am SO glad I was on this tour!

We truly enjoyed this program. We were impressed by how helpful and informative both Jeff and Joanna were during the entire trip. They certainly exhibited patience with the differing needs and desires of all the individuals in the group. Seeing the 3 national parks was fantastic. The pacing of moving from one park to the next park was just right. I would encourage anyone planning to participate in this program to bring hiking poles. We found them very useful on several of the hikes. And we bought bandanas at the first opportunity. They are multipurpose tool in the varying climates of the 3 parks--great for cooling if the weather is hot, or warming ears and necks if the weather is cool.

Our Road Scholar trip to Zion, Bryce Canyon, and the Grand Canyon was just outstanding. The scenery, food, and accommodations were wonderful. We shared the adventure with 37 other fabulous people. The icing on the cake, however , were our guides and driver, Pat, Dan, and Dave. This trip was great, but may not have been as great without these warm, wonderful, and knowledgeable people- wonderful storys and humor as well. I hope we can do another trip with these fine people in the future.

This is a well planned, educational, and visually stunning trip. A collapsable walking stick, more than one small water bottle, a wide brim hat with tie strings, and good hiking shoes are real plusses for Zion, Bryce and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

I took this as my first Road Scholar trip 10/09/12 to 10/16/12 and was very pleased, as you can see by the many pictures I posted to this site. It was well run and our leader, Bruce Banker, from Northern Arizona University made it more enjoyable with his knowledge and his friendly manner. Trip offered two nights in each park, allowing us to more than just sample each park. As time permitted our leader added a few extra points of intrest along the way. I just recieved a catalog of "Expeditions", offered by a well known magazine, which offers almost the same trip for the same number of days at a cost almost three times what I paid for this trip. This showed me wag a travel bargin Road Scholar trips are without skimping on the details. The trip began and ended in Las Vegas rather than two hours away in St. George, Utah, making transportation connections easier and allowing you to spend a little time before or after the trip in Las Vegas.

I found the "Color Country National Parks" a great way to see Zion, Bryce and the North Rim National Parks. All three places were magnificient in their own individual ways. The scenery will stay with me all my life. Transportation, accommodations and food were very satisfactory, and for a reasonable total price. The hikes were challenging enough to be fun, but not overly demanding. I strongly recommend this tour for those who want to see these three parks without having to go on their own.

As my first Road Scholar Trip I would give this a 10! All 43 people on the bus were Primos. The tour guide, Nancy, and our resident geologist, Keith, were upbeat, fun, interesting and interested! This couldn't have been more fun. Put your wishes out to the Universe, and the next thing you know you're in Zion, Bryce, and North Rim Grand Canyon.

My wife and I could not reccomend a single tour any higher. It was hard for us to believe that 3 canyons, within 100 miles of each other, could be so vastly different. The content, travel and lodging accomodations and food were terrific as were our hosts. Our group leaders were very warm and inclusive. Highly reccomended.

Our first Road Scholar trip, but it won't be our last! It was super! The hardest thing we had to do was take our luggage to the bus! Everything else was taken care of. The accommodations were great, the tour guides were not only knowledgeable, but obviously cared about the welfare of everyone on the trip! Terrific trip! Seeing Zion, Bryce and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon with the help of Eldon's extensive knowledge of the geologic and cultural forces that effect them helped us really understand and and appreciate the amazing country we visited. Trip was very well planned with options for easy and more challenging hikes and free time to explore on our own.
Our tour coordinator Dianne tried to meet everyone's needs. Another Road Scholar adventure that exceeded expectations!

I also hiked in Zion, Walters Wiggles if I remember the name, 100 switchback, short ones but a great trail. The North Rim is very peaceful, much quieter than the South Rim. Dining in an open area which is very pretty. The outdoor pool in Zion is lovely as well as the views...Great trip..

We were thrilled by our guides' enthusiasm for sharing geology and stories of the lives of the local pioneers on the Road Scholar program, Color Country National Parks. This was my second Raod Scholar trip. It was so good it set the bar really high for other trips I might take. The parks are of course magnificent and made more so by our guides, Jennifer and Jeff. They are knowledgable, very helpful, and fun to be around. I want them on every trip I take! Our bus driver was also very interesting in his own right. Food and accommodations were fine. The bus trip was used for info sessions which helped pass the time a lot. Awesome sums it up.

Instructors Jeff and Jennifer were the icing on the three-layer cake: Zion, Bryce, and North Rim.
We’ve been on 12 Road Scholar programs. All of them had fine instructors but Jen and Jeff took the cake. Their knowledge, humor, and compassion were unmatched in our experience.
This was our first bus trip. We had some anxiety about riding so much. Jeff and Jen made the time pass fast with their lectures and interaction. Compassion came into play with the bus stops…just enough to accommodate bathroom needs (although there’s a toilet on the bus). The bus driver (also a Road Scholar instructor) was an extra added attraction.
This dessert wasn't a no-no. It was a YES-YES.
And...at Zion consider an adventure to Walter's Wiggles and Angels Landing.

This was my first Road Scholar program and it was wonderful. I loved the parks we visited: Zion, Bryce and North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Each one was special in its own way and I fell in love with Zion, as did most of my fellow passengers. The guides were excellent, the food was mostly very good, and the fellow passengers were a delight. I was a solo traveler and I never felt alone. I hope to take a trip each year and look forward to my next trip to Oregon, Crater Lake and the Redwoods. Hope to see you there!

I found this program was a perfectly crafted jewel box, superbly designed to show off the beauty and wonder of what are often called "America's Crown Jewels". Everything was planned and timed for variety and balance. There were hikes and museum visits, masses of information, local insight, amusing stories, music, good company, comfortable rooms, plenty of fresh and tasty food. Our guide Jeff, was extremely knowledgable, unfailingly pleasant, utterly flexible and able to answer just about any question we could dream up. We did and saw so many things, but I never felt either rushed or bored. I think the perfect example of this occurred one day, when, following a magical pre-dawn ride through the park, an awe inspiring sunrise over Bryce Canyon, a beautiful reading followed by a wonderful breakfast,I saw that it was 8:10AM and I'd already had one of the best vacation days that I have ever had!!! I couldn't possibly reccommend it more highly.

This program is top-notch. The scenery is amazing, of course. And you have the option of hiking a little or a lot. You will be very well-fed: chicken, steak, turkey, salmon. It was some of the best food I've had anywhere. And Mary at NAU not only promised to accommodate my dietary restrictions, she delivered. The hotel/motel rooms were clean, comfy and well-appointed. Jen and Jeff were excellent guides: informative, entertaining, approachable, and ever patient and pleasant. Their experience and skill made for a smoothly-run program. Because this is an ARID climate, bring body oil for after showering, cream moisturizers for other times, vaseline to lubricate your nose, and dry eye gel. Those of us who didn't suffered itchy skin, nose bleeds and burning eyes that could have been easily prevented if we had packed smarter.

Our first RS program. Everything was great -- leaders (Brent and Gary), accommodations, food, vistas, hikes, schedules, weather. I was surprised at how much value the other participants added to the tour for us. We could not recommend this tour more enthusiastically.
