ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was an amazing experience, thanks to the warm and friendly Cuban people and the superb Road Scholar guides. Our guide told us that in Cuba they say: where there is a problem, there is a mojito. We said: where there is a problem, there are Road Scholar guides Lana and Jose Luis, and they make everything turn out wonderfully well.

The people to Cuba program truly exceeded our expectations! Our tour leaders of Lana and Jose were 2 of the most caring, thorough, organized and fun people we have ever met on any other tours! Cuba now is a country that is changing, albeit very slowly, and to be able to experience it at this juncture in history is amazing!

I had never been on a tour before and only to get to Cuba did I consider one. This trip exceeded all my expectations. It was relaxing and energizing every day all day.

This trip by far exceeded my expectations. It was so well planned out and organized. The hotels and food was very good. The tour guide and tour leader worked very well together and answered all the questions. Great bus and bus driver. I am very happy that I took this trip and hope I can return with RS>

This program helps you not just to visit Cuba, but to understand it.

Just go! Cuba is fascinating and is at a historical crossroads. We learned so much and had a great time doing it. Talk about unplugging, the internet is very very limited - you can do it!

RS trip to Cuba was an experience that stretched my mind and filled my heart through interaction with the Cuban people. I came away with a better understanding of the history and culture of Cuba and current US/Cuba relations. During our stay, we were treated to delightful performances by dancers, singers, & musicians along with visits to museums, paladars, artisan markets, and much more. The food and fellowship with our group is also a memory to treasure. I highly recommend this program.

This program captures the essence of RS travels... it is only the beginning of my desire to know more about this country. Thanks to Marie Elena, our guide, who gave practical guidance and some itinerary tweaking to get us to all planned site visits. Great group of fellow travelers with pertinent observations and questions added to an unforgettable experience. Looking forward to future travels.

The program was excellent with a great combination of learning Cuban history, culture and people and lots of fun. Our group leader and tour guide were outstanding. I also met a fine group of fellow travelers. The experience was unforgettable.

If you have never considered going to Cuba ask yourself why. If you are not supportive of the country go there and see why you need to have another perspective on this issue.

I refer to this trip as my Cuban Adventure. My brain is filled up with so many things that I want to know more about. Where we stayed in Cienfuegos was an extremely peaceful place. I know there has been a lot of stress on the Cuban people for generations yet they seemed to be very happy overall. I hope to return to Cuban again.

For anyone who has ever wanted to visit Cuba you will not be disappointed by this trip. There is a wealth of information/education you will take away.

"Eye Opener" is the phrase that kept recurring, thought by ourselves and heard from others. The usual RS thoughtful and thorough approach to the experience made this both great fun and truly educational. Maria Elena Valdes, our guide, was a key to making it all both intense and relaxed. We did our own tour of Miami's "Little Havana" with David Del Rio before we left, which was really valuable and fun. He and his tour could be a prescribed part of this trip. A practical end note: although active, none of this trip exceeded the capacities of we two octogenarians.

This was a graduate course in "Cuba Today" compressed into an 8-day crash course. It was a wonderful educational experience.

The Cuba People to People program was excellent in every way. It was most informative and enjoyable, and our tour guide made the entire visit to Cuba a pleasure. In addition, the food was delicious and the entertainment provided by local musicians at each location was wonderful. We learned a lot during this short period, and made me want to enroll again for comparable trips to Cuba and other locations throughout the world.

Joyce from Plano, TX Number of programs attended: 1

The tour was delightful, with knowledgeable and fun RS guide who definitely earned her money on our trip. Local guides and the Cuban guide who accompanied our tour were friendly and shared freely about their country. Havana was exciting with a lot of history. Loved the classic cars and architecture. The People-to-People experiences with dance troupe, arts school, San Lazario hospital, elderly citizens who danced with us, paladares, swimming in the infamous Bay of Pigs at Playa Largo were highlights. People were very welcoming and friendly. Our hope is that relations between US and Cuba will open up in the near future. Thanks RS for a great tour - highly recommended to others.

The web site was marvelous. Very interactive. Except, I couldn't discover who was going to be on our group tour before we left for the trip.

Our trip to Cuba was one of the most interesting and informative of the many we have taken throughout the world over the past 20 years. I cannot recommend it too highly.

This program is the BEST of 19 others I have participated in. If you want to know about Cuba, it's people and culture take this trip.

What an awesome trip. It was a real eye-opener to a culture surrounded by misinformation. I am really glad I finally got a chance to go and see for myself. All the people were delightful and seeing the buildings and cars was amazing.

The Cuba adventure I just returned from was one of the highlights of my life! This was my 11th Road Scholar learning adventure. All of them have been wonderful but I now rank this as #2 (right under Safari in South Africa/Zimbabwe). It was different from anything I have ever experienced. I loved every minute it......... You just have to wear your "flexibility hat" every minute while in Cuba!

Cuba was one of the most vital and eye opening travel experiences that I have had. I will remember Cuba with the beauty of the people and the country. I will follow "the hoped for changes" and wish for the best for these lovely people. I can tell you first hand the medical care in cuba is very good. I was told that my stitches were done correctly and am healing well!! Thanks to Phil and your friendly support I have a unique story to tell with a happy ending. Linda Adler

The Cuba People-to-People experience was memorable and mind-expanding. I learned so much about the country and its people. Meeting everyday folks and chatting with them was an unexpected pleasure. I thought there would be more control over who we met and our conversations with them. We had the opportunity to talk with musicians, book sellers, dancers, seniors (who were definitely spry and active), teachers, students, religious workers, hotel personnel. Food was good most of the time but it helps if you like rice with beans and seafood. The days were long and nights seemed short but we had many unforgettable experiences. Travel to Cuba with Road Scholar is highly recommended. I may return sometime. Kathy

Great trip! Very well organized and every aspect of the itinerary was carried out. The knowledge and expertise of our guides was truly amazing. I have already recommended Road Scholar to my friends who want to have a memorable traveling experience.

This was my fifth trip with Road Scholar. It (like the others) was exceptionally well planned and run. Our group leader was unflappable and cared for each participant according to their needs and abilities. Our guide in Cuba was very knowledgeable, interesting, humorous, and thoughtful. The two of them worked well together.

Cuba is a country of contradictions and contrasts, as well as a time warp back to a (very low budget) '50s. The people we met were wonderful. I highly recommend this trip.
