Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

First time on an adult road scholar tour and learned so much more than I could have on my own, this tour in particular was a delight made more so by Jan our very capable tour guide and all the other guides and lecturers who made the program come alive. Will definitely be planning more Road Scholar Tours in future.

Overall a scenic, educational, enjoyable experience. Be prepared to walk a lot - up and down hills, up and down stairs, and over rough pavement. The hotels served meat and fish: other meals out were salad, pasta, dessert. Lots of free time and Jan provided a list of activities one could pursue. You will have time to shop for ceramics, linens, and inlaid wood, or you can visit a nearby attraction - or you can take some books along. You will want extra Euros. Four meals on your own in Sorrento, one in Minori. The Greek and Roman ruins were especially interesting and made more so by our guide, Claudio. His knowledge and passion for Italy were a huge asset. Our group numbered 26 (could have been 35) so hearing his explanations would not have been possible without the use of individual radios. We were blessed with good weather, a congenial group, and Jan and Claudio.

Great - and then some! - trip, but had the principal local resource (guide, teacher, etc.), Claudio, not been front and center, that likely would have changed dramatically. But basically, this is a fascinating part of the world and we had perfect weather, a wonderful group and an excellent trip!

The trip was a wonderful experience. Jan and Claudeo were so well versed. TERRIFIC VALUE FOR THE MONEY. Kris Minnesota

A magical trip through ancient civilizations, jaw- dropping landscapes and contemporary life in southern Italy. Guided by a warm, generous and knowledgeable group leader who delivered an even better program than advertised. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful program. That part of Italy is so beautiful and the activities made the trip memorable. Jan is a fabulous leader, caring, patient, good humored, and always ready with suggestions to enhance the trip. Liinda and Jim Kelly
