This program was my 11th or 12th trip to Italy, my fourth with Road Scholar (counting 3 with Elder Hostel), and I can safely say La Dolce Vita was the best vacation I ever had, even thugh I've been to the Northern Lakes before with Elder Hostel. I appreciated Mara Mori's professionalism, her knowledge of the lakes and their culture and history, and her selection of restaurants and menus, always focusing on typical local dishes. Here lecture were superb and intellectually stimulating with a blend of historical facts and quotations from world-famous writers and compsers. She managed to work around the sometimes inclement weather by juggling lectures and field trips so we still saw the important villas, towns and places without sacrificing quality. The instructors she hired were also exceptional, particularly Patrizia Spini.

If there is one trip you take this year--make it La Dolce Vita!

Oct 2012. Just completed this marvelous trip which combines the beauty of Italy's wonderful lakes with the spectacular spendor of the Dolomites as well as scenic views of portions of the famous Po Valley. Group Leader Mara Mori's truly impressive credentials, love for this magnificient part of Italy, and skill as a guide, lecturer, food expert and leader, made this a trip that I will remember for a long time. Thanks Mara! Tim

The Italian Lakes of Como, Garda, Maggiore program is just wonderful! My husband and I have traveled a lot, and this is one of the best programs! Beautiful areas, amazing history, and not a rushed tour. We stayed 3-4 days at each lake. Mara is a great guide too. We highly recommend it! Nancy Johnson, NH

This was possibly the finest Road Scholar (or Elderhostel) program I have ever taken, though all of them have been superb!

This was one of the most memorable Road Scholar (RS) trips my husband and I have taken (we have been on about 7 trips). We did a similar RS trip about 10 yrs. ago and felt we could do a changed version of this trip again and still see new and wonderful sights, as well as meet new people. We were not disappointed. Our RS guide, Mara Mori, was very professional and extremely knowledgeable about the area and cuisine; she has a keen sense for what to see, do, and eat at each of the venues we visited. She went out of her way to make sure we didn't miss a thing! This RS trip packs a lot into the program. Additionally, we did independent travel before and after our program. This allowed us to enjoy the area even more. Also, Mara gave us a number of helpful suggestions for things we might want to do during our independent travel. In many of my travels, I have found it's the guide that makes the trip come alive. I give Mara Mori high marks for doing just that during this trip. What a treasure!

Guide Mara was great! Expert in history and a warm, lovely lady. Our hotels were very nice and comfortable. Mara worked hard to make sure our meals featured local food and wine specialties and explained each meal. This should be a must destination for Italy lovers!
