Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy Costa Rica for its history, environment and culture. Between the lakes, volcanoes, mountains, mammals, plantations, birds and just nature in general, I experienced marvel and joy. Road Scholar makes it easy to see and enjoy it all .

This was a wonderful program with a fantastic, informative, and enthusiastic guide. We enjoyed learning about CR, enjoying its natural wonders, good food, beautiful vistas, and humorous presenters. Too bad we didn't stay longer!

This was another wonderful program. We had great guides and speakers on the whole trip. Though it was not a birding trip, we saw a lot of birds that our guide identified for us. There was a good balance of education and activities. The food was very good. We felt like we got a great taste of Costa Rica and would like to go back for more! It is a wonderful country and seemed very peaceful.

This trip to Costa Rica was Pura Vida, as they say in the country. The scenery, the wildlife, the flora, the culture, the food - I could find NO fault with the entire trip (except that I hated to have to leave!). Great guide, informative and interesting lectures. CR is a world leader in many ways (environmental, relaxed and peaceful culture) that I never knew about. What a journey, literally and metaphorically!

Isabel from Ottawa, ON Number of programs attended: 4

Exactly as advertised - a taste, focused on nature but with some history lectures, cultural events, and whitewater rafting thrown in (rainforest canopy ziplining an optional extra, but worth the effort). Plan for hot and humid conditions, don't bother packing anything dressy, and prepare for a wonderful time! Every Costa Rican we met was extraordinarily friendly; our lecturers were knowledgeable and good presenters; our program lead was a delight.

Best imaginable way to visit another country, especially for those interested in walking amid the beauty of the landscape, seeing sustainable practices up close, enjoying amazing biodiversity within short distances, interacting with warm, welcoming, sincere, happy people, and all led by remarkable guides. Additionally, accommodations, activities, and food are superior and varied.

This was an absolutely fantastic trip! We learned so much about Costa Rica in a short period of time. We had a wonderful tour guide and the people in our group were fun to be with. We would highly recommend this trip -- it is worth every penny!

I would travel anywhere with Road Scholars. They really insure your trip is educational, fun, and inspirational. All tour guides, and educational speakers are highly educated and fun to be with. They insure the customer experiences all different aspects of a country or city's culture as well as it's people...one on one.

My husband and I joined a small group (15) traveling for 9 days in Costa Rica. We became friends in the airport with a fellow traveler and we're delighted to find the entire group very compatible. I have traveled the world and will continue until I physically am unable. But my next trips will be with Road Scholar.

"A Taste of Costa Rica" could not possibly have been any better. Our guide, Pedro Bosques, was THE BEST! The activities were well-paced, entertaining, informative and fun. The speakers were all very good, but 3 of the presentations were absolutely the calliber of TED talks or better. All of the other participants in our group of 15 were truly wonderful traveling companions. Costa Rica was outstanding in re: to the people, countryside, flora and fauna. The time of year was perfect. We returned home changed in some very good ways as a result of all of the above. This was our first experience with any type of tour, and we definitely intend to travel again with RS.

This is a great program. Costa Rica was wonderful and the Road Scholar trip was a great way to experience some of a beautiful and great country. The flora and fauna are beautiful and the trip was very well run. Our guide was excellent. The people of Costa Rica were all friendly and helpful. It was also nice to be in a country where you can drink the water and eat the food without worry.

First learning experience with R.S. and it will not be the last! What a great life experience and vacation with lessons for life. Accommodations were great, group leader an expert at what he does and has to offer educationally, locations amazing, and fellow sojourners a delight. Every site had a unique and wonderful offering as well a unique experience to offer. So happy I had a chance to travel to Costa Rica with Road Scholar and Co.

A Taste of Costa Rica is a tremendous amount of fun, and a great value! We saw the highlights of the country in a week--and the 'Taste' left us wanting to see more of this amazing country in the future. There's something for everyone in Costa Rica: wildlife, beautiful countryside, some history, walks in the the rainforests, conservation and ecological discussions, and of course, locally grown coffee and fresh fruit every day.

My wife and I attended "A Taste of Costa Rica", first time Road Scholar program attendees. The trip exceeded our expectations in all aspects. Our trip guide, Roger Melendez was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable and able to effectively communicate his knowledge to our group members. Our driver, Ronald was also outstanding; we at all times felt safe on the roadways. Outstanding Program, I strongly recommend it for those interested in learning about the rain forest, cloud forest and rich bio-diversity of Costa Rica, a beautiful, environmentally preserved country. I had never visited Costa Rica, and was very curious to learn about and experience this new country. I have traveled several times with Road Scholar in the past, but only in the US. All of these trips were excellent, so I felt Road Scholar would be a good way to see and learn about a new country. And it was! I feel there is no better, easier way to learn about a new place than travel with Road Scholar. They do all the groundwork, and then expose us to the best and most interesting that the new location has to offer. Thank you, Road Scholar, for helping me to learn about, and fall in love with, Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

The taste of Costa Rica program is a winner on all counts! The people of Costa Rica are charming and they seek to make you learn and laugh all day long. My husband and I felt informed, relaxed, safe and involved the whole time.

I learned so much about A Taste of Costa Rica! Our group leader, Edwin Ramirez, is a wonderful ambassador to the country and its flora and fauna, geography, and history. This is the best Road Scholar program I've taken.

We went on the Taste of Costa Rica tour from Jan 10-18, 2015. The tour group was small at 16 which was great, and Pedro our tour guide was fantastic. The country is beautiful, interesting with much wildlife. I highly recommend this tour.

An Awesome trip ! The group I was with was fun and we had a wonderful guide named Natcho. Beautiful Country and we saw animals such as Toucans, Howler monkeys, sloths and much more. For coffee drinkers you may want to take a travel coffee pot as a few of the places we stayed did not have one in the room.

The Taste of Costa Rica is a wonderful introduction to the country, highlighting much of the variety of ecozones, people, agriculture and beauty. The "instructors" are local people, deeply involved in their culture and country, a real plus. This is a fantastic bargain trip!

We had an AMAZING time celebrating our 25th anniversary by going on our 1st Road Scholar program to Costa Rica! Pedro, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable about the geographic area, plants, birds, animals, local history, and people. Pedro was so gracious, had a great sense of humor, and was exceptionally well organized. It was great to have activities and meals planned with such a great variety. Our driver Henry got us safely to our destinations and we definitely appreciated not having to drive on the bumpy roads! All the activities were great, but I especially enjoyed visiting an elementary school where school children performed some traditional dances and having dinner with a family in Monteverde

Wonderful experience. Beautiful country and warm, friendly people. Everything was so well planned. Our trip leader, Pedro Bosquez was so knowledgeable, thoughtful and kind. I would highly recommend this trip.

This was some Taste! Our small group of 9 enjoyed the best of CR from the lowlands to the cloud forest. Thanks to our knowledgeable, caring, and passionate guide Edwin, and our driver "D" we had an experience that was "Pura Vida!!" Other interesting trip companions made for lively and thoughtful conversations. This well-organized tour wet my appetite for the longer Road Scholar trip to CR. As always, Road Scholar delivered on meals, accommodations, and educational material. June is billed as the rainy season, however, we had many sunny days and the rain was mostly intermittent. I didn't even need to use mosquito repellent.

Carter from Gainesville, FL Number of programs attended: 5

A Taste of Costa Rica was a most enjoyable trip with like-minded travelers who were all there for an introduction to a gentle beautiful diverse country. The introduction was so fascinating and favorable that the country appealingly demands a return visit to further explore other National Parks, mountains, beaches and rain forests...on another well organized Road Scholar program. As always Road Scholar exceeded my expectations in their choice of accommodations and meals and activities and my fellow travelers on this particular program exceeded my expectations of how cohesive and cooperative a group of 16 people between the ages of 26 and 87 can be.I really think our group leader, Pedro's, personality set the stage for an atmosphere of peace, camaraderie, compassion, acceptance and patience, the perfect learning environment.

JoAnn from Panama City Beach, FL Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 04/10/14 - 04/18/14
What a great experience! Everything about the trip was perfect. Would have liked more time in some places, but this was billed as a "taste" of Costa Rica, not the whole meal! Our guide, Glorianna, & our driver, Chicho, were amazing, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying their beautiful country. The temperature was quite comfortable in April. We had no problem with mosquitoes. For an account of my trip, go to www.mytripjournal.com/ourdream & scroll down & click on the dates you wish to read.

The program description should stress the level and extensiveness of the walking and hiking. It was more on each day than I expected. The timing of the field trips and return left very Little leisure time.

Mary Lou from Greenwood Village, CO Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 03/03/14 - 03/11/14
"A Taste of Costa Rica" was a beautiful way to see and learn about the country. It is relatively small with less than a-half million people and smaller than the state of West Virginia. It was amazing how such a small country can be so unique in so many ways, with a culture unto itself. So very different than all the countries that surround it. The people are well educated, hard working and friendly, the general character of the country seems unaffected by the 'Hugeness' of the world. The country seems very subject to change in the next 20-30 years and like many places, worth seeing now.

Roberta from Westport, CT Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 02/13/14 - 02/21/14
This is a great way to get to know Costa Rica in a brief visit. You get to experience the different topographies, learn a bit about the history of the country, and see lots of flora and fauna. Our guide knew a lot and shared his knowledge freely. The driver was excellent. The whole experience was fun and definitely worth the time and money.

Barry from Westport, CT Number of programs attended: 1

The program was terrific. It provided good balance of activities, education, free time, and lots of fun. The leader was engaging, very service-oriented, and knowledgeable about a wide range of topics. It was my first Road Scholar program, and I'll definitely do more based on this experience.
