My wife and I had a great time on the July 2011 program, good accommodations, good food, good program as depicted on the website, good leadership and instructors and a good group of participants. I think that everyone had a good time. This program concentrates on the town of Banff, similar to a signature cities program, with a day trip to Lake Louise and the falls up a half-mile path at Johnson Canyon. There was a fair amount of walking around town and up and down some moderate trails and stairways as well as some use of the Roam bus service which had a stop practically out front of the inn. The Activity Level 4 rating seemed appropriate. In our free time we took a ride on the gondola up Sulfur Mountain where there were excellent views of the town and surroundings. One couple in our group hiked up and down the mountain. For those who might like to experience more of Banff National Park as well as Yoho or Jasper National Parks, we recommend taking a few days before or after as we did. There is Moraine Lake (near Lake Louise) – Emerald Lake, Natural Bridge, the spiral railroad tunnels and Takkakaw Falls in Yoho – Ice fields, numerous mountains and much scenery in Jasper. We opted for a bus tour rather than car rental which turned out to be an advantage in that the bus went right to the center of the attraction while those in cars had to park a good distance away at most locations. I highly recommend this program.
