Program #12778RJ
14 Days | 13 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Waleed El Maligi was an outstanding Group leader! Cosmos Tours were efficent and very helpful when I encountered a luggage problem. I felt safe the whole time and was amazed with what I saw and experienced. The best trip I have ever taken!

This tour was the culmination of a long term goal and dream for my husband and I. I would like to urge others to forge ahead and visit this wonderful country. This trip will meet or exceed all your expectations. I just want to say that we felt safe and secure on this trip despite the upheavel reported by the local newspapers here at home. We stayed in contact with the State Dept. before we left and they never indicated that we should not go! If you want to have the trip of a lifetime, I highly recommend this one~ Nancy Dunn

I second the comments from Judith, Everett, Alice, and Sandy! This is a wonderfully well-crafted, well-organized program that more than lives up to the title of Egypt: Past and Present. This is a particularly fascinating time to visit Egypt -- I felt totally safe and very well cared for -- and our guide Waleed is superb. This is one of the very best programs I have experienced.

Judith from Worthington, OH This is a great time to visit Egypt! This trip exceeded my expectations and I recommend it to the traveler who is eager to go beyond the surface of culture and history. Some highlights include climbing on the pyramids, seeing the treasures of Tutankhamen and relaxing on the Nile cruise for the last half of the trip. I especially enjoyed my eleven fellow program participants and our guide/Egyptologist, Waleed El Meligy who saved us from so many of the tiresome details of travel and he had a great deal of knowledge about ancient and modern Egypt. By the end of the trip, we felt like we had made a new friend and were sad to say good-by. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone and encourage him or her to go with the knowledge that Egypt is a safe country in which to travel. For me, this was one of the best trips I've even taken.

Beyond the Pharaohs is an incredible opportunity to experience Egypt. From Alexandria to Abu Simbel, we had nothing but good to great experiences. Our guide, Waleed El Maligi was very, very good: attentive, well organized and extremely knowledgeable. My recommendation: run, don't walk, to sign up for this program. Egypt awaits you.

I would strongly suggest taking the tour, Beyond the Pharaohs: Egypt Past and Present. Our guide Waleed El Maligi made the ancient history understandable and helped shed some light on what is happening in Egypt today. It was a wonderful tour.

My trip was all I had hoped for & more! Egypt is a magical place; and with Road Scholar's help, guidance and protection, my travel experience throughout was incredible!

Egypt was a surprising and wonderful trip! Our group of nine were congenial and our guide, Heba, could not have provided a more complete view of her country: antiquities to contemporary issues. As many times as I've seen images of the Pyramids, actually standing in front of them was one of the spectacular experiences of my life! We felt safe and were warmly welcomed by the Egyptian people who we met and saw. Our speakers were excellent and added depth to our sight-seeing activities. This trip is an outstanding adventure and a great travel value. Road Scholar, keep Egypt on your travel list!!!!

Pyramids, temples and tombs - Oh my! This was a fantastic trip from start to finish, largely due to Heba, our guide and soon-to-be friend. She kept us all in line so we didn’t miss a thing, all the way from Alexandria to the Aswan Dam. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to visit this fabulous and welcoming country.

This was my first tour with a group so I didn't what to expect. I was very happy with my Egyptian trip with Road Scholar. Heba El Saad, our guide, was the big difference. Her knowledge of the ancient history of the Egyptians was impressive. I have studied Egyptian history for years, but she taught us all so much. She was organized, and professional throughout the trip, plus retaining a sense of humor. Thankfully I kept a daily travel journal with an occasional sketch, because we saw so much on our 2 week tour. Our group was just the right size and mix of people from all over the country, and it was nice to get to know these like minded travelers. I can't imagine a better value for all the things we saw, and the various modes of transportation, deluxe accomodations we experienced. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this trip to my friends. Especially if the trip includes Heba Abou El Saad. Norman Friant

We loved our Road Scholar tour of Egypt! This trip was a life-long dream of mine and it did not disappoint! The tour covered all of our priority sites, plus more! And the timing could not have been better-small crowds, combined with the fascinating social/political changes of post-revolutionEgypt!

Our guide, Heba, was amazing, knowledgable, passionate, problem solving. She shared generously of her extensive expertise and personal insights. We are grateful beyond measure to her for making this the trip of a lifetime.

Do not miss Road Scholar's tour of Egypt!
