ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.

ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

A wonderful adventure through Switzerland. It is hard to imagine a more spectacular and beautiful trip. I love Switzerland - the cute houses, the minimal automobile impact, the use of public transportation, the aesthetic values and appreciation I noticed nearly everywhere. If one can handle the winter it must be a good life, and gives me hope for humanity.

This was a great trip with lots of train riding. The hotels and meals were just fine. The Road Scholar staff was most helpful and, with one exception, the lectures were well done. This is a beautiful country and our visit to various sites was always exciting and well planned. We recommend this trip. Beware: be prepared for walking, some uphill.

This was a wonderful two weeks. Switzerland is beautiful, and the lectures we received on its history, geography, culture, and politics greatly enhanced the experience. Andrea's meticulous planning provided a broad range of experiences and maximized the use of Switzerland's transportation systems. While there were a few times we wished we could have paused to savor our surroundings, the next event on the agenda was always appreciated.

Exciting, engaging and memorable experience. Best investment in travel that I have made this year. This was my first RS program. Picture postcard country, superb transportation system, great weather and some of the nicest people one can travel with for two weeks. Well thought out program design that was executed flawlessly. Experienced local group leader (Andrea John) and competent team support from beginning to end (Peggy, Rauati, Curt). Lectures, excursions and field trips were valuable use of group time. Four of us in the group had traveled solo. RS team and others in the group ensured that those who traveled solo were always included. This is group travel at its best. I look forward to other RS programs and strongly recommend this program to others.

Andrea was a fantastic group leader! Attention was paid to every detail & she did a wonderful job of making sure that everyone in the group got the most they could from their adventure. This program covers so much of Switzerland in a short time & I loved doing it by rail - great experience!

The program helped to better understand the diversity of Switzerland. Travel completely by public transportation you gained an appreciation of the efficiency of their efficent and on time trains and bus system. It also allows the opportunity to travel and interact with the locals and you feel like you are part of the community. The lectures, interaction makes for a true understanding of the country and its peoples. It is an extremely efficiently run program with a wide variety of activities.

If you want to see all of Switzerland this is the program to choose. It covers a lot of ground on a variety of transportation modes and keeps one active and enjoying the view.

My husband and I did this trip in June of 2012, and it was our first Roads Scholar. The itinerary and the 3 tour guides who spent the entire trip with us were great. So much attention to detail. The train rides were outstanding and the scenery spectacular. We have the highest praise for this organization and we hope to go to Australia and New Zealand next year with another of their trips. Go. You won't regret it!

An awesome program!! A taste of everything Swiss - interesting lectures, charming hotels, great food, and the amazingly efficient Swiss transportation system. Traveling the country by train was so very comfortable and efficient. And such fun to be able to move around in our private rail cars and take photos from all sides.

We learned about the Swiss Government, education system, social structure, and very efficient infrastructure. And the incredibly beautiful Swiss Alps and charming little villages with flower boxes on every building are memories that will last forever.

Our leader, Andrea John, is absolutely the best I've ever had. Friendly, efficient, and wonderfully organized and so knowledgeable about her country and its people. This program is not to be missed!
