My grandson and I just returned from this tour and it was fabulous. Eric and Rene were excellent guides and all the children on the tour had a great time. (11 children & 13 adults). I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of Spain, Christopher Columbus and the Moors.

This was the first Road Scholar tour we have taken and it won't be the last. We were especially interested in the Christopher Columbus aspect of this trip and were delighted with being in many of the places where he visited during his life: the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Guadalupe, the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See in Seville (his resting place), the La Rabida Monastery in Huelva. We saw replicas of Columbus' three ships at Tres Carabelas and were able to board them. Also, we saw marvelous cathedrals, art work by the masters and other treasures in Toledo, Guadalupe, Merida, Seville and Granada. Beautiful and memorable! However, the best part was the Tour itself. The guides (Eric and Rene) and the wonderful people on the trip with us were a delight. We were comfortably taken to all of the locations and everything was transulated for us. Without this tour, we would not have been able to go to many of the places we visited.

Michael (my grandson) and I will never ever forget this experience. It was superlative. First of all, I want to say that the sites were all beautiful, well-chosen, the places we stayed at and visited simply marvelous, and the group leader--- Eric --- was wonderful. He made superhuman efforts to be helpful and responsive. Things do not always work out as planned when one is traveling, and individuals in groups have different needs and expectations, but Eric tried so hard to honor us and to be there for us at all times. He deserves enormous praise. Michael and I loved the soccer with the Spanish children, the "play acting" about Don Quixote de la Mancha, staying overnight in a real monastery, climbing on the replicas of the ships of Columbus, standing in awe before El Greco's masterpiece, walking over the old stones, and--- perhaps above all --- the Alhambra! We went back and strolled around its magnificent gardens the next day after the group had left. We fell in love with Spain. The people we met -- Spanish and Americans both -- were so lovely and kind, and the countryside in Extramadura and Andalucia is beautiful. The food delicious! Our accommodations were comfortable and spacious.

This was the worst tour I ever took in my life, and I have travel a lot. It was a nule "learning experience". The level of the information was for kindergarten.
The activity level was almost imposible for anybody older than 40 and very well fitted.
The guides were ignorants and careless.
The potential of the very interesting cities was waisted by a bad organization and a demeaning attitude towars the Spanish culture.
