I think this was the best and most exciting of my Road Scholar hiking experiences! Nepal's culture was vividly experienced and the trekking in the shadow of the Himalayas, followed by a jungle experience viewing wildlife in its natural habitat were outstanding. The treks were challenging, but the comfort and views at each lodge provided a welcome respite. The Nepalese are friendly, the food was delicious, and the countryside is beautiful. I have learned a great deal about Nepal and myself on this trip.

We have just completed the Nepal Trek. It was a wonderful though challenging trek. We felt it worth every bit of effort. What the Road Scholar materials did not explain was that trekking in Nepal is really climbing and descending stone steps. Very little of the trek was a simple trail. If you are a hiker and do not have knee problems, you should do this trek.( about 35 miles) I do not feel you can experience the mountains or Nepalese life better than being on a trek. The lodges were outstanding, and we were treated royally. Food was very good and traditional. (you can avoid spicy) Twelve of us ranged from 58 to 75. One more was 48. All 13 did fine and I think would do it again in a heartbeat. This was truly experiencing Nepal. It will be an experience of a lifetime! We will always cherish our Nepal memories. This was our 23rd Road Scholar trip!

I will describe each day of the trek portion of the trip on the discussion board so you can have a better feel of what to expect and to determine if you want to do this trip. We highly recommend this trip!
