This program includes the semifinal and final rounds of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. During the semifinal round, hear 12 talented semifinalists as they each play a solo recital, a newly commissioned work, and perform with the Brentano String Quartet. For the final round, you’ll be in on the action as the six finalists perform piano concerti with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, led by renowned conductor Leonard Slatkin. Get an insider’s view of the competition, judging criteria and media coverage. Gain a better understanding of the pressures of competition through expert lectures from a piano performance professor and visiting with a finalist from a past Van Cliburn foundation amateur competition.
