Description: This beautiful and historic hotel with graceful white columns and airy verandas nestles among the vibrant galleries, cafes, shops, and studios in Berea; the Arts and Crafts Capital of Kentucky. After hosting several hundred guests in her home, Nellie Frost, First Lady of Berea College, insisted on building a guest home for future visitors. Thus, the idea of Boone Tavern began and opened its doors in 1909. Based on Berea College core values, $11.3 million renovation in 2009 led to the 1st LEED Gold Certified hotel in Kentucky. 63 smoke free welcoming guestrooms all feature handcrafted touches which include rich wood furniture made from oak, pine, and cherry woods, woven bedding, mosaic art tiled mirrors, and woven baskets made by Berea College Student Crafts. Additional amenities include ceiling fans, legendary towel warmers, soaking tubs, and all natural bathroom amenities add comfort. Cutting edge in room technology featuring flat screen TV, wireless internet connection, and new voice over IP phone complete your stay. Boone Tavern Hotel, part of the Historic Hotels of America, has gained a reputation for elegant dining and a welcoming atmosphere. Berea College students play a big part at Boone Tavern Hotel by providing guests with friendly and courteous service in the Hotel and Dining Room. These students work 10 to 15 hours weekly while carrying a full academic load. Since 1855, all of Berea's 1500 students are employed in one or more of 140 work areas at the college.
