Boone Tavern Hotel: Berea, KY, 3 nights

Description: Historic Boone Tavern Hotel, celebrating its 100th anniversary as a member of the Historic Hotels of America, has just undergone a major renovation in all 63 guest rooms as well as all public spaces and dining rooms. Solid wood furniture pieces made by students are evident throughout.

Room amenities: All of our 58 guest rooms are elegant and charming and feature hand-crafted cherry, oak, and pine furniture made by Berea College Student Crafts over the past 100 years. Rooms also feature modern conveniences such as color television, private baths, coffee makers, hair dryers, and irons with ironing boards as well as elevator access.

Facility amenities: Whether you prefer traditional or creative southern cuisine, you will find palate pleasing fare in Boone Tavern’s Dining Room. Boone Tavern works in tandem with Berea College utilizing the Student Labor Program to staff the hotel. As you dine, most likely your waiter or waitress will be a Berea College student. Enjoy the quiet and ambiance of the lobby while taking in the daily newspaper or enjoying the free internet service provided. Boone Tavern is located on College Square which consists of many local shops and a coffee shop within walking distance and just a few doors down.

The Inn at Shaker Village: Harrodsburg, KY, 3 nights
Type: Inn

Description: Nestled in the rolling hills of Kentucky’s famed Bluegrass Region, the Inn at Shaker Village is the perfect getaway, complete with views of the gently rolling countryside. The Inn encompasses 73 guest rooms spread throughout fifteen restored 19th century Shaker buildings where Shakers once lived and worked. Simple but elegant, rooms are furnished with reproductions of Shaker furniture but have all the modern conveniences. Beds feature Temper-Pedic mattresses, contemporary bathrooms, and Bee-Kind toiletry products. Every room opens to a view of beautiful Bluegrass countryside. Select rooms have satellite television and complimentary wireless internet access. Comfortable common areas provide board games, books and seating conducive to relaxation and conversation.

Facility amenities: During your stay, dine by candlelight on hearty Kentucky foods and Shaker specialties at the renowned Trustees’ Office Dining Room, where true southern hospitality abounds. Explore Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, where you can tour America’s largest restored Shaker community, browse craft shops and explore 40 miles of trails. Complimentary wireless internet access is available in select rooms and in a public sitting room. Hair dryers are available in all rooms.
