The Grande Mariner: Kingston, NY, 12 nights
Type: Cruise Ship

Description: The friendly and knowledgeable crew aboard ship thoroughly enjoy making you comfortable amidst the relaxed environment on board The Grande Mariner. Family-style meals, casual dress, and one common lounge ensure that everyone has a good time. The ship is chartered exclusively for Road Scholar; it is your home-away-from-home during the study cruise. The chefs and crew pride themselves on providing a 24-hour-a day self-serve counter in the dining room that's stocked with fresh fruit, hot and cold beverages, snack bars, and yummy freshly baked cookies and muffins. The dining room is often the site of a lively game of cards or an informal class on navigation, and the comfy lounge almost always has a jigsaw puzzle set up in a corner. Each cabin has a speaker system that you can turn off and on when you like, so if you feel the need for an afternoon snooze, you can retire to your cabin and listen -- or not -- to a lecture that might be going on in the lounge while you stretch out in private comfort.

Ship Information: The Grande Mariner is a comfortable, 3-deck American cruise ship built in 1998 with a unique design including a bow ramp. At 183' long by 40' wide, and cruising at 11 knots, she can carry 86 passengers on exclusive charters like yours. Public areas linked by stairs include a dining room, lounge and sun deck. All cabins have air conditioning and small private bathrooms. Cabins differ in size, amenities and costs. Some cabins have fixed, double beds.
