Mr. Wilson Fernandes

Wilson Fernandes was just age 12 when he fell in love with Iguassu National Park and its spectacular water falls. He has since made himself an expert on the park’s plants and wildlife. He used a biology degree at UniAmerica University as the springboard to a job as a biologist at Parques das Aves, a privately owned zoo and bird park in Foz do Iguacu. Wilson also leads group on explorations of the Macuco Forest, with special interest in the metamorphosis of butterflies and months.

Dr. Sabrina Gledhill

Sabrina Gledhill is a British national who was raised in Puerto Rico and educated in the UK and U.S., and has lived in Bahia, Brazil since 1986. A writer, translator, researcher, editor and lecturer, Sabrina is the author of a comprehensive research paper on Brazilian race relations and Manuel Querino, a pioneer in the records of anthropological African culture in Bahia. Sabrina lectures on her life experience in Bahia, including race and gender issues, cuisine, Candomblé and Capoeira.

Prof. Marie Haim

Born in Egypt, Marie Haim immigrated to Brazil with her family when she was one year old. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and a master’s degree in business administration from EBAPE/FGV Getulio Vargas Foundation. Her large experience as a marketing specialist in advertising and corporate marketing communication was developed while working for multinationals such as J. Walter Thompson, De Beers Consolidated Mines, R J Reynolds and Phillip Morris. Among her current academic activities, she works as invited professor for the MBA courses at Getulio Vargas Foundation, and as an assistant professor at the University of Grande Rio Business School. She is also a partner at Millennium Comunicação Empresarial, specialized in marketing advisory and consulting services, with focus on communication solutions and media intelligence in business management.

Prof. Paulo Knauss

Dr. Paolo Knauss holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in history from the Fluminense Federal University, a master’s degree in history by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and a post-doctorate from the University of Strasbourg in France. A true academic, his current works include research about the relations between memory and cultural patrimony, exploring the fields of art history, history of image, history of cartography, oral history, urban history and historiography. The author of numerous papers and articles, Dr. Knauss is the director-general of the public archives of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and teaches both in the history department and the image and oral history laboratory of the Fluminense Federal University.
