Floyd Domino

Floyd Domino is an American musician known for his work in the genre of Western swing. Born in California, Floyd’s close association with Western swing coincided when he joined the group Asleep at the Wheel at the age of 19. After playing for seven years with the band, he is now an “AATW Alumnus” who still joins them for featured performances. While Floyd is widely recognized for the revival of Western swing, he began his career with a broad grounding in jazz, boogie-woogie, swing and blues piano. He regularly performs as the Floyd Domino Jazz Trio, showcasing a unique blend of jazz and blues. Floyd has performed with noted musicians including Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Strait, The Texas Playboys, Waylon Jennings and the Crickets. He has also contributed to promoting American roots music through his appearances at schools, camps and other learning organizations.

Jim Selcraig

Both a student and teacher of history, Jim Selcraig is a native of Texas who has long been fascinated with the story of America. After graduating from Baylor University and acquiring both his M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, he wrote his dissertation on McCarthyism in the Midwest. Jim then became an instructor at Austin Community College in 1985, and came to the University of Texas in 1992. During his time at SWT, he has taught a multitude of courses in U.S. history during the 20th century, as well as on Texas history. Jim enjoys teaching, and is proud to have been awarded a “Favorite Professor Award” by the honor society, Alpha Chi, for several years.
