Linda Godfrey

Linda Cross Godfrey is the creator and owner of The Atlantic Leadership Center, and has welcomed Road Scholar participants to the Downeast, Maine and Maritime, New Brunswick areas for more than 16 years. Known as "one of Maine's most inspiring speakers," Linda leads classes on Native American lore, seaside flora and fauna, and offers inspiring stories of the area. She also serves as the facilitator for the Washington County Leadership Institute for the Sunrise County Economic Council.

Robert Godfrey

Robert Godfrey is owner of Old Sow Publishing in Eastport, Maine, which promotes the international Passamaquoddy Bay area and local Old Sow Whirlpool. He has been a long-time student of the Bay of Fundy and local tides, tidal phenomena and Old Sow Whirlpool lore. Godfrey is the president-for-life of Old Sow Whirlpool Survivors Association, and can be seen in the 2009 History Channel video production, "Underwater Universe: The Seven Deadly Seas."

Dr. Colin Windhorst,

Dr. Colin Windhorst is a historian with a long established interest in New England and a special love for the people and history of Eastern Maine. He is a frequent speaker for Road Scholar on the history of Campobello Island and its connections to Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. Dr. Windhorst earned his Ph.D. from the University of Maine in 1996, and since then he has lectured and written extensively on the history of Maine, with particular interests the Passamaquoddy Bay area.

Prof. Ronald Pesha

Ronald Pesha is professor emeritus of mass communications from a campus of the State University of New York. He retired to Lubec in 1998, and is president of the Lubec Historical Society. His 2009 book, "Remembering Lubec," features many historic photographs. Ron is an active volunteer at the public school and at West Quoddy Lighthouse. He has presented Road Scholar programs on Campobello since 2002.

Shelly Tinker

Shelly Tinker is an experienced deep-sea diver and underwater photographer. Coming from a sea-faring community, she knows the waters of Passamaquoddy Bay intimately and has captured unforgettable images of sea-life below the waves with her camera. Her photos were chosen by the Nature Conservancy for their posters of Cobscook Bay. Shelly has shared her experiences with Road Scholar groups for many years, offering a glimpse of local life in Lubec and the Island of Campobello.

Capt. Mackie Green

Capt. Mackie Green is part of the North Atlantic Whale Rescue Team in the Bay of Fundy. He and his small crew respond to reported sightings of entangled whales or other sea mammals or birds in danger. Capt. Green and his team personify the bravery and rugged spirit of the Campobello Island people who taught FDR to sail as a child, served his family for decades, and gave him his first opportunities to interact with "ordinary" people, gaining skills that he would use masterfully in later life.
