EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Instructors

These instructors are participating on at least one day of one date of this program.
Please note that changes may occur.

Mr. Aaron Sherber

Aaron Sherber has been Music Director of the Martha Graham Dance Company since 1998 and has led them in acclaimed performances at venues throughout the United States and United Kingdom. He has appeared as a guest conductor with the Birmingham (UK) Royal Ballet and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, and conducted the Boston Conservatory’s orchestra in a series of performance for their dance division. Aaron holds degrees in philosophy from Yale College and in conducting from the Peabody Conservatory.

Dr. Douglas Heist

Douglas Heist has led Road Scholar programs at Peabody Conservatory since 1982, and teaches piano in the Peabody Preparatory Department and also at McDonogh School in Baltimore County. He earned both his M.M. and D.M.A. in piano from Peabody Conservatory. Douglas has performed as soloist and accompanist throughout the Baltimore area and has appeared several times in the Baltimore Composers' Forum at Goucher College, which features new compositions by local composers.

Mark McCoy

Mark Allen McCoy is the music director and conductor of the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra in Leesburg, Va. A dynamic American conductor who has enjoyed success on the national and international scale, he has been lauded by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as “conducting with the broad, sweeping gestures typical of the old Central European tradition.” Mark holds degrees from the Conservatory of Music in Kansas City and the University of Illinois, and furthered his studies at the Peabody Institute.

Mr. John Weber

John Weber is a tenor who studied early in his musical education with Phyllis Frankel, first protege of the legendary Rosa Ponselle. He debuted with the Baltimore Opera in 1988 with Verdi's “La Traviata,” and in 1995 debuted with the Washington Opera in Strauss' “Der Rosenkavalier.” John has performed with The Baltimore Symphony, Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Concert Artists of Baltimore, The Handel Choir, the Sarasota Opera, the Miami Opera and the Washington Summer Opera.
