Mr. George Deutsch

A historian whose specialty lies with the Civil War and the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812, George Deutsch is the co-founder of several historical organizations including the Erie Maritime Museum. He has taught at Chautauqua since 2005, and is currently writing a book on the untold history of its last year in the Civil War. He has been honored by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and received the Local History Award in 2003 from the Erie County Historical Society.

Ms. Kaye Lindauer

For more than 30 years, Kaye Lindauer taught graduate and adult education courses in storytelling and literature at Syracuse University. Kaye continues to conduct weekend retreats for adults in storytelling and personal development, freelance storytelling, conference speaking, and instructing for adult education programs.

Dr. Lee Spear

Dr. Lee Spear has enjoyed teaching Road Scholar programs at the Chautauqua Institution for many years. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Dr. Spear began his teaching career at Hamilton College, where he formed a co-ed chorus. He later moved on to Chautauqua County, where he became the artistic director of the Chautauqua Chamber Singers. Today, he shares his love for music as an associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

Dr. David Kozak

David C. Kozak is the director of the Institute for Policy and Leadership Studies at Gannon University in Erie, Pa. He is also a visiting professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, and has lectured on American government and politics in Israel, Australia, Europe, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong. Since his arrival at Gannon University, David has given presentations on leadership to numerous military and government institutions, as well as private groups and schools.

Prof. Greg Ferro

Dr. Greg Ferro earned his doctorate at Pennsylvania State University. He was a nominee for best teacher in America by the Disney Corporation in 2002 and, in July 2009, he presented four lectures at Penn State on U.S. Foreign Policy. Dr. Ferro has been interviewed numerous times on local radio and television and authored an article published in Education Magazine. He currently teaches three courses through Road Scholar.
