EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Kim Poovey

As a Beaufort, S.C., resident, popular storyteller, actress, and novelist, Kim Poovey brings local history to life through her characters from the past. Whether telling a ghost story in downtown Beaufort or appearing to as the inimitable Miss Emma Victoria Brown, she transports her listeners to the past and wraps them up in the stories she tells. After each of her programs, Kim steps out of character to answer questions and elaborate on some of the historical events that shaped her stories.

Dr. Emory Shaw Campbell is a key Gullah Geechee leader, devoted to helping individuals, organizations, groups, journalists and scholars learn more about the Gullah Cultural Heritage. In 1980, he became the director of the historic Penn Community Center on St. Helena Island. Dr. Campbell has sought to preserve the heritage of his native culture through his book “Gullah Cultural Legacies” that illustrates Gullah traditions, beliefs, art and language.
