While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Bruce Brown

Bruce Brown is a native Californian and received a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resource management from Cal Poly State University and has a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. He taught outdoor education for nine years both locally and in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of northern California, and opened a children’s summer camp in his local area with the current camp director. At present, he is a licensed marriage and family counselor in Arroyo Grande and owns a small commercial orchid nursery. Bruce has traveled extensively and eight years ago, he and his wife took an around-the-world tour. Bruce is a mountain climber, having climbed Kilimanjaro in Africa and to the base camp of Mt. Everest. He is also an avid fisherman, enjoying both fresh and salt water fishing.

Jean-Pierre Wolff

Jean-Pierre Wolff is winemaker and co-owner of Wolff Vineyards, producers of fine Edna Valley Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Teroldego, Syrah and Petit Sirah. The vineyard was planted almost 30 years ago, and was expanded in 1999 when Pierre added their artisan winery. The very-limited production at Wolff Vineyards is hand-crafted using traditional Burgundian wine-making methods. French new oak, barrel fermentation, sur lie and battonnate are a few of the techniques applied to their wines.

Chuck Walker

Chuck Walker was born in Orange County back when there were still orange trees there. In his younger days, he traveled through Mexico and Central America in his trusty Volkswagen, explored Europe, and later retraced the route of ancient caravans through Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal. He has lived in Mexico, spent a few years on a timber ranch in California’s High Sierras, and now resides in the sleepy beach town of Cambria, working as an interpretive guide at Hearst Castle.

Susie Fulton

A California native, Susie Fulton spent her childhood in Santa Monica enjoying what she describes as its “surfer kind of kick back” atmosphere and resides in Shell Beach today. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts and an MBA, and ran her own business for many years. Susie has been a college instructor in public speaking and has served as a local expert at Hearst Castle. She has traveled to many countries, and had the opportunity to work overseas while raising her children.
