ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Group Leaders

Group Leaders make sure your program runs smoothly and are attuned to the needs of Road Scholar participants. These Group Leaders are participating on at least one day of one date of this program.
Please note that changes may occur.

Bonnie Pranter

In 1977, Bonnie Pranter moved to Prescott, Ariz. where the abundant variety of birds grabbed her attention.... and she’s been watching them ever since. A Yavapai College adjunct instructor since 1985, she teaches bird study courses and has led several Road Scholar birding and hiking programs each year. Bonnie’s field work has included participation in various bird surveys and avian monitoring programs. When she is not birding, Bonnie enjoys camping, hiking, backpacking and travel.

Instructors & Group Leaders

These people serve both roles during your program.

Eric Moore

Eric Moore’s love of wild birds had its beginnings in the deserts of southern Arizona. At the age of 13, he joined the Tucson Audubon Society, and since then has birded extensively across the U.S. and in locales as distant as South Africa and Brazil. He teaches courses on birds at Yavapai College, and leads bird walks for the Highlands Center for Natural History in Prescott. Eric also writes a weekly column about wild birds for the local newspaper, and owns two retail wild bird stores.
