Road Scholar
Program #18099RJ
5 Days | 4 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Instructors

George Baker

George Baker grew up in Brazil and Argentina, but the affable fellow found his way to Toronto in 1956. After graduating from the University of Toronto and logging a successful career in advertising and public relations, George has relished a second career as a charming, entertaining leader of historical walking explorations of downtown Victoria, Chinatown and The Empress Hotel, which has entertained the likes of Jack Benny, Katherine Hepburn, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Barbra Streisand and Roger Moore.

John Adams

John Adams is the author of “Old Square-Toes and His Lady: The Life of James and Amelia Douglas.” Part historian and part storyteller, John has turned a passion for the past into a long career in history. His family-owned business, Discover the Past, provides a variety of historical educational programs for the community. His natural, lively, humorous and clear style makes his presentations both informative and memorable.

Group Leaders

Group Leaders make sure your program runs smoothly and are attuned to the needs of Road Scholar participants. These Group Leaders are participating on at least one day of one date of this program.

Teresa Weir

Teresa grew up on a dairy farm in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting from the University of Windsor. After graduation, she moved west and has lived in Edmonton, Jasper and now Vancouver. Her acting career has taken her to Fringe festivals in three provinces, elementary schools throughout British Columbia, and she now spends time role playing for students in various health care programs. She regularly works special events such as the Vancouver International Film Festival. With a love of the outdoors, Teresa camps as often as she can. In 2011, she hiked 68 miles of Scotland’s Speyside Way. Teresa looks forward to meeting Road Scholar participants and sharing with them her love for the region.
