EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Instructors

These instructors are participating on at least one day of one date of this program.
Please note that changes may occur.

Brad Wyand

Brad Wyand is a young-but-seasoned living history interpreter, having been reenacting Civil War battles as both a Federal and Confederate soldier for more than six years. He currently reenacts a Confederate soldier with the First Tennessee Company I. Brad’s interest in history also led him to work at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, site of John Brown’s raid and attempt to start an armed slave revolt.

Roger Swartz

Roger Swartz is a graduate of Albright College and Lehigh University. He has presented 18th-century living history programs at the Smithsonian and Mount Vernon Estate, and is also an instructor in the continuing education programs at Harrisburg Area Community College, Elizabethtown College, Frederick Community College and Hagerstown Community College. His published works include “Frankstown: Anatomy of an Ambush,” and “Field of Honor: The Battle of Fort Freeland, July 28, 1779.”

Steve Malovich

Steve Malovich is a lifelong student of American history with a primary interest in the American Civil War. He has independently studied the Civil War for more than 40 years, and shares this passion for history as an expert at Antietam Battlefield and as a member of the Civil War Preservation Trust. Steve leads historical explorations at Antietam, Manassas, Harper's Ferry, Monocracy and South Mountain, and presents educational programs on a variety of topics relating to the Civil War.
