ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
If you’re looking for a more flexible schedule with ample independent time and several meals on your own, then our FLEX learning adventures are made for you.

My wife and I are scheduled for the April 30, 2015 trip and then we're doing the South of France: Wine and History from Sarlat to Bordeaux beginning on May 8. We're wondering if anyone else is doing either or both of these.

Does the trip to Normandy include Juno beach where the Canadians landed?
Carol Hitchie Dec 07, 2014 at 07:01 PM

No. It was further down the beach.

The Versailles stop comes on the last day of the trip--on the way back from Normandy. We were able to visit the main building but not the gardens and outer lying buildings. We really didn't have the option to do more than we did.
Anne Schaetzke Dec 07, 2014 at 12:09 PM

It sounds like Road Scholar needs to rearrange their program in order for people to really see Versailles. I understand Marie Antoinette's "cottage" is well worth seeing and that a trip to Versailles is not complete without it.

Regarding the May 2015 trip....is the field trip to Versailles an all-day affair? My French teacher said that I would need a full day to see Versailles. Thanks.
Carol Hitchie Dec 06, 2014 at 08:07 PM

We stopped for almost 3 hours which was plenty of time.

Will be on the October 9 trip, leaving from Atlanta on Air France, and meeting up with a friend who is flying out of Pittsburgh. This is a retirement gift to myself. First trip to Europe. Ginny, I see you're on the same flight, will look for you at the airport. A tout a l'heure!
Ginny Bowling Oct 08, 2014 at 08:07 PM

Hey, Cheryl. I'm printing my boarding pass now!! À remain!
Ginny Bowling Oct 08, 2014 at 08:07 PM

Stupid spellcheck. A demain!

I am going on the Sept. 18th trip, leaving from JFK. Hoping to hear from others scheduled for the same. It will be my first trip to Europe.
Nancy Johnson Sep 13, 2014 at 07:02 PM

This is Ken and Nancy Johnson from Seattle. We are also on the September 18 trip. Our first Road Scholar experience
Kathleen DeMatteo Sep 14, 2014 at 09:12 PM

Thank you for responding to my post, Nancy. My only
Kathleen DeMatteo Sep 14, 2014 at 09:14 PM

I'll try again. Thank you for responding to my post, Nancy. My only experience with Seattle is a layover at the airport, but even from there I could see that it is a very beautiful place.

Nancy Hawkins Joines Sep 10, 2014 at 11:15 AM

My husband's father landed on Normandy so we're excited about this trip. We're leaving JFK on October 9.
Gail Michaels Sep 10, 2014 at 03:18 PM

I'm also very interested in Normandy and it's why I chose this trip. My uncle flew bombing raids there. The bravery of those men streaming onto the beaches amazes me.

Bruce White Sep 01, 2014 at 08:58 PM

I'm going on the October 3rd trip; coming from Norfolk, VA and leaving for Paris from Newark,NJ on. Anyone else leaving Newark?
Bruce White Sep 01, 2014 at 09:15 PM

Correction: I'm leaving from Dulles. Anyone else leaving Dulles?
