Hi All,
Jim and I (Carolyn) will also be arriving on the 25th. Our flight is supposed to land at 6:00 PM if all goes well (any suggestions for changing terminals at Heathrow? We have 2 hours). We are also staying at the Mercure on the 25th. Hope to get into Budapest in time for dinner. I've also been monitoring activity at the train station and it appears to be mostly there and not violant, the refuges just want to get on to their new life! I have not seen any stories about travel problems for tourists so don't know how that is going. I spoke with RS today and as of now we're supposed to take the train to Vienna. I asked if the trains aren't running if they have buses or other transport and the person I spoke with said that Road Scholar will make alternate plans if necessary. Glad this isn't their first rodeo!! I trust them to do what is necessary. Thanks for the tip on the Taxi, I was a little concerned about getting the right company so will follow your suggestion. Look forward to meeting everyone.

Hello everyone,

Ann and I took this tour in 2014. It was wonderful. If you have the same tour guides in Budapest you will not be disappointed. The hotel is near the train station that had all the refugee activity but as I write (9/13/2015) it seems to have lessened. If you are flying into Budapest take the Fo Taxi from the airport. It is the best. They accept credit cards and Euros.

We are planning to take a train from Prague to Budapest on 9/26, arriving before the meet & greet. Hopefully the refugee situation will be resolved peacefully and humanely prior to our arrival. We look forward to traveling with you! Lin and Gary Schmidt

I will be arriving on the 23rd staying at the Mercure. A friend in Budapest called to tell me that the unrest is right by our hotel. It is not safe right now. I have called Roads Scholar several times to question our safety or their alternate plans. To date my calls have not been answered. Anyone else call?

What is the size of the group for this tour?

Hello everyone,

Looks like this is the first post. But my wife and I got the last two spots on the tour. Looking forward to our first visit to eastern Europe.
