In applying for an Indian visa, we were concerned about the length of time it might take (6 weeks) since we have family in England and did not want to be without a passport for that long. We also were unhappy at having to submit 3 months' worth bank statements (not required for all states). We found Genvisa less responsive than we liked and went with a private facilitator, CIBT.com. They were expensive, but worth every penny, talked us through the paperwork, line by line, and literally walked to the Indian consul in San Francisco on a daily basis. We had our visas in less than 10 days after we mailed the application.

Has anyone got past the genvisa site for Indian Visas? I am locked up trying to specify the carrier (FEDEX) to return our passports --- mary and den rich

Hi, Den and Mary,

Please let us know how you're progressing. We're in the middle of this and our hair's on fire. Made a bit more complicated by my husband's dual citizenship and the terribly intrusive request for 3 months' bank statements (not required in all states). What did you put for your address in India?

Martha - Hi - to make a very long story short; I was frustrated entirely by the Genvisa website, called them and received a paper application that was ridiculous, protested to RoadScholar in Amherst, recvd a nice call back but no clear answer (yet). Will let you know if anything changes; thought I would just wait a bit and hope the web site gets fixed.
