I recently bought "Wipers Times" from Acorn catalog, about the paper the doughboys wrote from Ypres during much of WWI. Very watchable, and a nice sidelight to the "harder' info we got in the Sept. conference.....

Hello, I am looking forward to this trip and meeting everyone. I am coming by myself and have a single room. This is a dream trip for me as I have wanted to have a study program at Oxford since my college days and
I have a special interest in WW I. Stephanie Wiley

We saw War Horse a couple of years ago when it was at Lincoln Center. Excellent.

Jeri Andrews Jan 23, 2015 at 02:09 PM

The play WAR HORSE is playing in London at the time we will be in London. We ordered tickets for the free evening on March 31.Should be an interesting aspect of WW1.
Rae Walker Jan 23, 2015 at 10:36 PM

What a perfect opportunity! I'll be back in London in August and will check it out.

Paula Moulton Aug 28, 2014 at 03:54 PM

Good thing mot of us aren't going until the following week! Clouds and "showers" here and there ( allweather coat and packable umbrella). And I didn't know about the ceramic poppies - sounds worth seeing!
Rae Walker Aug 29, 2014 at 11:32 AM

I will enjoy all weather options rain or shine. Sitting in a cozy historical location and hearing histirical discourse. All good!
Rae Walker Sep 04, 2014 at 12:36 AM

I think we may still get a little rain in Oxford. We'll see soon!

Boy, check the weather in London before you :-, it looks like a storm next week. This definitely alters my packing ...just a tweak.
Kathy Watkins Aug 27, 2014 at 10:56 PM

Rain in England? :) lets pack those layers. Coming from the CA. Drought, it will be a change indeed!
Rae Walker Aug 27, 2014 at 11:01 PM

Yes. A pleasant change!

Jodith Janes Aug 25, 2014 at 01:41 PM

Will we be visiting the Tower of London to see the Tower of London Remembers installation "Blood Swept Land and Sea of Red" the
ceramic poppies marking the centenary of the outbreak of WWI
Kathy Watkins Aug 25, 2014 at 03:46 PM

Kathy Watkins Aug 25, 2014 at 03:50 PM

Yes, I have been viewing that ceramic poppy display on the BBC website and it looks very poignant. It seems we have the afternoon of 9/20 free when we are in London so maybe some of us will want to go to the Tower.
Rae Walker Aug 25, 2014 at 09:45 PM

That sounds like a good plan.
Rae Walker Aug 25, 2014 at 09:51 PM

I think there will be a lot of Commemorative Events to find and explore. Can't wait!
