Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Wondered also if we can buy our National Park Pass when there. We are from Green Bay and there are no National Offices nearby. We are going on the 9/21 trip and are really excited. We will be driving to Denver, spending 4 days in South Dakota and 4 days in Denver first

Hi Debbie, thanks for enrolling! It sounds like you'll have some nice adventures before the program as well. If you're interested in a national parks pass you could either pick it up on your pre-program adventures or when you visit Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park during the program. Or perhaps the easiest is to get it using the application available online on the National Park Service website: Feel free to e-mail us directly (we are the provider for this program) with any other questions at

I did this program last Sept 2014. It was excellent.

I am so looking forward to this trip beginning a week from today.
Can I buy my National Park Pass when we get to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison?
I have been to most of the places on this trip and for those who have not, you are in for a treat.

My husband and I are going on the 9/14 -22 trip. This will be our first trip with RS. We took a train across Canada and loved it. Looking forward to this trip!

Anyone going on the September 15th trip?
Toni Norton Aug 12, 2013 at 07:09 PM

Hi there-I am going on that date. I am a single, coming from NY. So looking forward to the trip.
Carol Wick Aug 18, 2013 at 05:18 PM

We are from PA and going out early to visit with relatives. I've been on 4 RS trip, my husband on 2. Looking forward to this one. Hope the leaves have started to turn. Have you been on RS trips before? Where else have you traveled?
Toni Norton Aug 19, 2013 at 01:14 AM

I have been on 30 trips with them-have loved most of them. My favorites were Hawaii, New Orleans, Savannah. Key West, Seattle and the grand Canyon. Have never been to Colorado before. Also hoping the leaves are turning.

Would like to know if any of the fires in Colorado have been in the areas covered by this program.

Is the "Ride Colorado Rail Roads" an annual program? If so during what months?
Road Scholar Aug 01, 2012 at 04:28 PM

Typically, this program does run every year, with dates June-September.
