EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Anyone staying a few days after and want to take some hikes?

Debbie Clifford Jul 05, 2014 at 07:26 AM

Airline cancelled one flight into St John's today. Will leave soon for airport, should get in after midnight. On CBC, I see lots of power outages and flooding. Is this program still a go?

Mark Smith Jun 14, 2014 at 03:20 PM

The Grand Manan trip is our first with Road Scholar. Do people tend to dress for dinner in the hotel?
Helen Sternheim Jun 15, 2014 at 05:23 PM

The Grand Manan trips are pretty informal. I know we didn't dress for dinner when attending programs there.

will the puffins be there on July 20-26th

Barbara Shannon May 27, 2014 at 02:40 PM

That culinary program I mentioned starts on the 24th and the Grand Manan program ends on the 23rd.

Barbara Shannon May 27, 2014 at 02:39 PM

We are attending the Aug. 17 program in Grand Manan and then the Culinary program in Passamaguaddy Bay. Any suggestions as to the best way to get to Eastport from Grand Manan or maybe St. John?

My wife and I will fly from FL to Boston for the Aug 11 program. Any helpful tips on best car rental agency and interesting locations to stay along the way. Ray & Anne Goldwire, Gainesville FL

If you stay along the coast, entering Calais, do not miss Acadia Hational Park--one of the most beautiful parks in the country! I feel better setting up places to stay before we leave. This time of your is difficult to find good places.Looking forward to meeting you.
Loretta Stark Jul 10, 2013 at 10:07 AM

ooops: National year (sorry for the typos)
H. Ray Goldwire Jul 17, 2013 at 02:10 PM

Thanks for responding Loretta. We do plan to spend a few days after the Grand Manan program in the Bar Harbor area, which is near Acadia National Park. Before the program we plan to tour the Cabot Train in Cape Breton. Lots of traveling in a rental car. See you on Grand Manan. Ray & Anne Goldwire

Four of us are flying from California for the Aug. 18 program, and the Birding Campobello program that begins Aug 25. We'd love to know which is the best airport, best rental car agency, and locations for overnight stops along the way. Thanks so much. J E Ryan, Davis, CA
Helen Sternheim May 01, 2013 at 03:04 PM

Bangor ME is probably the closest airport, I am thinking 2-3 hours to Campobello.
Helen Sternheim May 01, 2013 at 03:06 PM

look at a map. We have beento programs at both of those locations and drove from Mass. We always stay overnight in Bangor on the way to Grand Manan.
J E Ryan May 01, 2013 at 09:09 PM

Thanks, Helen, we've also received helpful tips from one of the Campobello birding trip experts. We are grateful to you both!
