I have received messages regarding this trip. Am not able to go in March 2016, had to postpone it. Thanks for writing , hope everyone has a wonderful adventure!

I am going on the Feb 20 trip and have created a bird checklist with more space for recording information than the one provided. I will be happy to send an Excel file by email to anyone interested. Look forward to good birding in Costa Rico with new friends.

I am still looking for someone else arriving a day early for the Feb. 20 trip. It would fun to meet up early.

My wife Eileen and I are going on the Jan. 12, 2016 "C.R. Birding Hotspots" trip along with another couple. We are all regular birders but with a range of skills. If no-one else is bringing a spotting scope, I would bring my "Celestron 16x-48x" with tripod. It's fairly heavy so if someone is bringing a better or lighter scope that we can all share to some extent, I'd like to know. Post something here in any case if you are going on this trip to say Hi.

I am going on Off the Beaten Path starting Feb 23 followed by this program starting March 5. I've asked Road Scholar to assign a roommate for each trip, but if someone is willing, we might be able to figure it out ahead of time. My quirks are that I don't smoke and I can't handle fragrances that most folks like, such as perfume. I could probably find a reference about lack of snoring! These sound like amazing birding trips, and will complete my bucket list. Nothing left but the bucket, I guess.

I am going on this trip in Feb. Will insects be a problem?
Kris Gates Sep 25, 2015 at 09:50 PM

I went in Feb several years ago. For most of the trip, insects were infrequent pests. However, there was one spot (Palo Verde Nat'l Park) where the mosquitos were biting us through our clothes. The land was marshy, near a river. Take repellent.

Thanks for the info!
